  1. Nice write up as always. Thanks! Ryan Niblett is now the 2nd leading punt returner in college football with 21.6 yards/return. One tiny nit to pick - you wrote "5 Arch was sacked 5 times" in "Stats that Matter" summary but "officially, he was sacked 3 times" in the main body of the text. . The ESPN box score credits Kentucky with 3 sacks and the Texas D with 5 sacks, so guessing you mentally flipped those numbers, no biggie.
  2. One big media outlet had these five QBs as the best preseason bets to be taken in the first round of the 2026 draft (alphabetical order, with current ESPN passer rating) - Allar (136, # 11 B1G), Klubnik (142, # 10 ACC), Manning (150, # 10 SEC), Nussmeier (134, # 15 SEC), Sellers (147, # 12 SEC). Arch is the highest rated of these guys, # 47 nationally.
  3. Absolutely, 100x over for the first one ... As for the 2nd one ... I can see it both ways - easier route to a better record if we schedule say Rutgers or Northwestern as our Big 10 matchup (but probably not Maryland LOL), but as a fan I say play one of these historically elite opponents every year possible just for the spectacle of it. If we are afraid of losing then I think we have a different problem.
  4. Personally I haven't been this worried about A&M snatching a DB since they stole Denver Harris from us ...
  5. Yep, you did. He left the team in early September. From Sept 10 on Bama247 - https://247sports.com/college/alabama/article/second-year-alabama-receiver-no-longer-with-program-253774296/ Redshirt freshman wide receiver Aeryn Hampton is no longer with Alabama, coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed Wednesday. DeBoer said Hampton has not been with the team since early in fall camp. Hampton was listed on Alabama's Week 1 roster but was not spotted in pregame warmups at Florida State. He was not listed on the Week 2 roster for ULM.
  6. Arizona's finest (even if he is from Tucson LOL)
  7. Good (brief) interview with Emma Halter after the Bama game (ESPN) https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/46575065
  8. 6-6 is not out of the question. Better than 8-4 would mean only 2 more losses and that would be tough to reach with their run game.
  9. Just wondering if anyone else got invited to the slightly more sophisticated "Tailgate" held at the Discovery Gardens at Fair Park, or if closetojumping and myself were the only ones? Hosted by the Chair of the BOR, the system Chancellor and the UT President - I'd expect blinis with caviar, tiny shrimp on plastic skewers and properly chilled Sancerre instead of corn dogs and beer (except I can't go). Here's my invite (seriously, I got this in the mail). And if this don't impress you much wait until you see what they have planned for the Halloween soiree the night before the Vandy game 😎
  10. If true I apologize for missing the sarcasm, but the other points he makes about our IOL, Arch and Endries were all pretty much what every one seemed to expect ...
  11. At one point during the game I started to wonder "why do our highly rated freshman WRs like Ffrench and Lockett (ranked # 9 and # 2 in the class) sit because they haven't learned our system while Wilson (# 😎 is playing like an All-Conference dude in his first game?" (edit: for some reason trying to type hashtag 8 in ( ) brings up the sunny emoji - lol) Maybe our system is too complicated?
  12. This is absurd, even delusional. Jeremiah Smith and Ryan Williams were light years better by any metric.
  13. Tossing my hat in the ring for the free sub ... who was closer? Edit: I think Bobbers was closer for sure ...
  14. "Cowboys Rookie RB Missed Practice Time Due to Blisters From Louis Vuitton Cleats" Questionable decision? LOL
  15. Florida 20 Texas 17 (Pate got me thinking worse case - 12 penalties on Texas, two fumbles, Arch struggles a bit, DJ wakes up and makes two plays) I really think it will be more 24-20 Texas but picking Florida is my only chance at the free sub for a year - hope I'm wrong lol
  16. Watching Josh Pate prediction and the dude is picking Florida to upset Texas. I was surprised (I like Pate's takes, usually). "Texas vs Florida...Preview & Prediction - Josh Pate's College Football Show" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJcMfz-zaXI
  17. Read it carefully and it makes sense - "Mateer leads the Sooners to shutout the Horns" ? Guys, clearly he's playing on defense if he's going to lead them to a shutout. Right? Travis Hunter-like, playing both ways and winning the Heisman Trophy.
  18. When scouting the Florida defense everyone is so worried about are we looking at numbers or watching plays? The Florida defense that's been on display is NOT the defense we're going to see in terms of scheme or personnel. They lack the depth they had going into the season, which is why a game by game is the best approach to take. While the numbers look good there are so many players and positions to attack. Florida likes to keep their safeties back to limit explosives. Well with their best DL in street clothes and youth at both linebackers, if Sark decides he wants to get back to himself and run his counters and misdirection big plays are there for the taking. The weakest position group on the field for Florida will be linebacker. Go back and watch the Miami game, yeah I get it Miami's offensive line blah blah blah, but the success Miami had running their zone runs and GT counter had more to do with linebackers running themselves out of the play and not fitting the run well more than anything. If those linebackers play with the eye discipline they had and fitting the run like they did against Miami, they will have to drop a safety in the box. Playing press on the outside is easier to do with guaranteed help over the top, but the equation changes when you have to do it on an island. As fans have patience and be ready to be frustrated until Sark makes Florida come out of their 2 High shell, and when they do strike up the band.
  19. Just to be clear I'm not referring to Blake's post, but rather a spam post that was subsequently removed.
  20. Be careful about clicking that link guys ... smells like spam
  21. I saw Kliff Kingsbury hired by the Arizona Cardinals as head coach and he never accomplished half of what Riley did. Not saying 'hire Riley', just doubling down on your comment about the strange decisions owners sometimes make.
  22. Ole Miss faces only 2 currently ranked teams the rest of the schedule but they are Georgia in Athens and OU in Norman back-to-back. If they win both of those (and don't furk up against the lesser foes like SoCar or Mississippi State) they surely deserve to be highly ranked, but I'm guessing they lose at least one and probably both. 10-2 and maybe missing the conference title game would still probably get them into the playoffs and more power to 'em. 9-3 (highly possible) and they will likely not make it. Bama faces five ranked teams (three in a row) plus @SoCar and @Auburn. Plenty of time to drop one or two, don't crown 'em just yet. Still 7 SEC teams undefeated in conference and 6 with just one loss ... it's gonna be crazy
  23. You could probably make a solid argument that it's already 3 tiered - those with near-zero hope of making the playoff (half? more?), those with a chance every few years if things break right for them, and the 15-20 true heavyweights whose fan bases will be angry if they are NOT in the running for the CFP at least every couple years.
