  1. We're just doing what fans do and that's go back and forth. I played safety in high school and was pretty good before tearing up my knee completely so I watch recievers, dbs, and quarterbacks as if I'm studying film. I played like Taafe with more speed and athleticism, but was never going to be a D1 athlete at 5'10" 150 even if preinjury I was high 4.4 40. I always had problems gaining and retaining weight. Still do til this day lol I'm stuck in my high-school body at 45.
  2. Hills talked about it today on Coffee and Football. He said it'll be up to pain tolerance and wouldn't impact his ability to punch but can be a hindrance in run blocking or a bull rush so we'll see. We don't know if he's wearing a club or not tho.
  3. Not move on, but the goal is 16 games and we're going to need him more later. We don't want whatever is ailing him to linger like Bond.
  4. At this point he hasn't practiced in forever, play the healthy guys you trust and let him heal completely. You can't miss what you never had🤷🏿‍♂️
  5. I don't know if anyone else feels like today is flying by, I'm supposed to take ambien to sleep, but bump that you ain't gonna catch me like Lil Nas X walking down the street in my underwear🤣 I've been up since 2 am
  6. That's all I'm saying is Downs is great at what OSU asks him to do as Taafe is great at we ask him to do.
  7. Let me ask if you were a Texas fan and had to cover Ohio State’s recievers with a light box which safety would you want? Of course Sark would choose a 5 star over a preferred walk on. If he didn't that'd be a fireable offense no? But he wouldn't be playing safety, he'd be playing Star.
  8. I'm telling you if that's what you expect from a safety Taafe does more with less. He covers everything in our scheme from backs, TEs, slots, blitzing, and covers the run. Taafe plays both high and low and does it as well as any safety in the nation. I'm not saying Taafe is a better football player by any stretch, but I am saying he's a better eraser.
  9. I'm not saying that they're wrong, and nobody is talking about Taafe because of his lack of athleticism. Downs is good at playing free and around the ball, but Taafe is an eraser. I don't know how many times a reciever beat a corner and the only person back there to erase that mistake was Taafe. If Downs was that kind of eraser, why didn't they put Downs over Evan Stewart in the first game against Oregon is all I'm saying. It was obvious Ohio State couldn't cover him.
  10. We doubted Taafe and have been trying to replace him his whole career, but if you throw at him it's a mistake. When you talk about IQ and always in position to make a play Taafe is one of the best safeties in the game.
  11. Taafe in the last two years have 5 picks and 11 passes defended. That's during the same time frame. Like I said as a high safety give me Taafe as a chess peice or box safety I'll take Downs. That's not disrespecting Downs, check the coverage grade and I bet Taafe grades higher.
  12. No doubt thats because he's going to test well and Taafe will not.
  13. I'm going off of tape though. Go watch the Aggie game, the touchdown he saved against Arizona State, the play he made against Miss State playing from his safety position. He really is a difference maker. As a safety does Downs numbers come close? https://youtube.com/shorts/PFTO6VM3V5k?feature=shared
  14. This may seem like a homer comment, but if we're talking pure safety play(eraser and being the communicator on the back end) I'm taking Taafe all day everyday, but if we're talking football player and defensive chess peice. No question, it's Downs everytime.
  15. I like Downs in Jim Knowles scheme as the middle safety lurking in an inverted Tampa two, coming up at strong safety playing in the box around the line of scrimmage. As a high safety he leaves a lot to be desired, go watch the spring game or the Alabama/Texas game, Sark picked on him all night. Everytime Sark put Downs in conflict Texas scored.
  16. There's only one answer, Quinn, without him we're looking back instead of what's to come.
  17. Couldn't agree more, I have an idea on what I would like to see and would do, but I'm just a fan. Nothing I say is bound to happen, I would like for Texas to pull it out. And if you're right about anything 🤣 if Texas does win, it's because they listened to me and I'm applying for the first coaching job available at Texas.
  18. I know most of Arch's time came against lesser competition, but I would watch the games against UTSA, ULM, and State. That would give a better assessment of what to expect from an Arch/Sark offense instead of Quinn/Sark. There's a noticeable difference between the two.
  19. Not saying Ohio State will be surprised in a sense they can't stop Texas, but more of this isn't what we expected. Last year we couldn't hit on deep shots, so the offense was designed to get the ball to athletes and space. Unfortunately, that meant a lot of screens and passes behind the line of screen and yeilded a lot of tackles for loss. This year the offense will be more vertical. Just like Texas, Ohio State will have to stop the run with a light box.
  20. They're going to be in for a surprise. I understand they don't really follow Texas, but they go all the way back to Sark's second year up to Michigan last year, one thing Sark did to open the game was to let it rip. So that secondary will get tested and this is the first year of the new body type recievers. Gone are the Worthys and Bonds and in are the 6'2" and 6'4" guys who are physical and and can endure physical play.
  21. After Michigan last year, what do you guys think about your place kicker? We dealt with Auburn and his right hash issues, and decided he had to go.
  22. 🤣 I'll pass. Klatt is still concused and Urban Myer is still sniffing his finger.
  23. Why are they talking about Arch as if he's Josh Allen? Sark isn't going to run zone read and designed run plays when he doesn't know who the backup qb is. Sure Arch may scramble here and there, but the Arch that got knocked out the game isn't the Arch Ohio State is going to see. That was just a package to get Arch in the game last year.
  24. Serious question, banter aside, who in the Buckeye space can I go and listen to that isn't going to just say JJ Smith and Downs for thirty minutes? I enjoy honest assessments of our weekly matchup and so far no one I've listened to have provided anything they may have worries about, it's all sunshine and rainbows.
