OU has it ROUGH over the next two months
Jerky replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Sooners defense can't save them. OUsux lack of offense leads to 5-8 losses this season. Expect TN and Josh Heupel to humiliate ousux this week. Then the best of the SEC will do the same. SEC hates land thieves. -
Texas New No. 1 In ESPN FPI Rankings
Jerky replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
ESPN's mysterious and flawed FPI should be ignored by OTF. FPI isn't football science or an impartial computer formula; it is ESPN's secret proprietary hype ranking. UNI went on the road as a 28.5 pt dog and beat ND. 1-1 ND ain't #10. -
Was not expecting that loss. ND should drop significantly after a home loss to a 4 TD dog. ND hasn't looked top 12 good. ND is just not good enough on offense.
-
Colins has been pretty good so far. Broughton has noticeably improved. PFF grades for Broughton and Collins are better this season. Their stat plays per snap is better under Baker. Broughton said Kenny Baker helped him on his technique. Recruiting hits, defense looking good and winning has Baker gaining momentum.

Add manscaping OUsux alum Sherrone Moore! Our team did a number on his offense in the first 3 quarters. 🤘

Tickle Me Elko post game press conference
Jerky replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Maybe. ND @ USC could be a loss. USC is improved. -
Pencil em in Gerry. Almost there. 11 to 12 more manageable games and it's done. Miami now seems like the favorite from the ACC. FSU is down and has a bad loss. Clemson got annihilated by UGA. Miami has a road SEC win. ACC is weak. Miami schedule is manageable. Skips Clemson in regular season. Gets FSU at home. Could road games at USF or at Louisville be their toughest remaining regular season games? They don't play a ranked team if FSU eventually drops out. Win the ACC and qualify. 12-1 could get in as well. ND got that SEC road win. ND has an even easier schedule than Miami for the next 10 games. At USC in their final game is their qualifier imo. But could lose it and still make it with a 11-1 record. Both need to avoid two losses to avoid the CFP debates but some 2 loss team(s) will make the CFP. Three losses and they are out of the CFP. But I doubt either has 3 losses since they may be favored in every game.

If you also block a kick.....which he did.

Who is this Mike Elko? Are you referring to Tickle Me Fat Elko?

Wynn, Charles and Hilson on flip watch. FSU not living up to top 10 rankings as predicted by many here. If we take care of business, believe we get 1 or more to flip and come to Texas.

Didn't watch but early reports say FSU didn't look good on offense. No surprise. On the Blake Munroe Call Your Shot....Like many, I posted earlier my #1 most overrated team this preseason is #10 FSU. Gerry had FSU. Blake thought FSU was also overrated. FSU has tougher opponents to play so more losses are likely. HOOK EM! Let's flip a FSU commit!

2024 Team Talent Composite Top 20 by 247Sports 1. Bama plays six of the top 20 - #2, @8, @9, @17, 18 and 19. 2. UGA plays seven of the top 20 - @#1, @4, 5, 12, 17, 18 and @20. 3. OHST plays ONLY THREE of the top 20 - @6, @11 and 16. 4. TEXAS plays five of the top 20 - #2, @7, 8, 12 and @16. 5. Clemson plays ONLY TWO of the top 20 - @#2 and @13. 6. Oregon plays ONLY TWO of the top 20 - #3 and @16. 7. A&M plays six of the top 20 - #4, 9, 10, @12, @18 and 19. 8. OU plays seven of the top 20 - #1, 4, @9, 17, @18, @19 and @20. 9. LSU plays six of the top 20 - #1, @7, 8, @12, 15 and 20. 10. ND plays ONLY THREE of the top 20 - @#7, 13 and @15. 11. Penn St plays ONLY TWO of the top 20 - #3 and @15. 12. Florida plays EIGHT of the top 20 - #2, @4, 7, 9, @13, 14, @17 and 20. 13. FSU plays four of the top 20 - #5, @10, 12 and @14. 14. Miami plays ONLY TWO of the top 20 - @#12 and 13. 15. Auby plays five of the top 20 - @#1, @2, 7, 8 and @19. 19. MO plays four of the top 20 - @#1, @7, 8 and 18. 20. Ole Miss plays four of the top 20 - #2, 8, @9 and @12. The expanded SEC has 11 teams in the Top 20 Talent Composite and 6 in the top 9! SEC schedules are especially brutal this year; it will be interesting to see how much weight is given to SEC SOS when selecting for the 12 team CFP. MO and Ole Miss seem to have easier schedules than the other 9 SEC teams on the list. Yet they seem to have tougher schedules than most other teams not in the SEC. ACC has 3 teams on the list but only 1 in the top 12, Clemson. Miami has the easiest schedule of the 3, it avoids #5 Clemson and gets #13 FSU at home. The expanded B1G has 5 teams in the Top 20. Penn St, Oregon and OHST have more favorable schedules than most on the list. No surprise, Big 12 Lite is not represented in the Team Talent Top 20 Composite by 247Sports. Their conference champ may not deserve to be an automatic qualifier for the CFP. What are your projected teams in the 12 Team CFP?

Bobby on OTF just said Flood wanting to rotate more OL this season. We may have more trusted OL than in past years. Hoping our 2nd group can provide quality depth and quality snaps. Doubt it moves the needle with Fasusi this summer, but getting more young players game snaps is a positive for early development and future recruiting. Season may last a few games more than in the past so all the more reason to build more quality depth.
-
Fans are on alert. With this recruiting cycle, we're pot committed. TX must finish playing the hand. After the flop, we can better evaluate. Adapt or die.
-
Texas doesn't have obvious early playing time at OT to offer anymore. Should Texas pledge to rotate Fasusi on the OL early provided he has earned snaps in the off-season in an effort to entice Fasusi? Would that make a difference in his recruitment?

Dia Bell strong first performance

OTF Premium Latest on Michael Terry III (Wednesday 11:50 CST)
Jerky replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
That may be good news. Nebraska with a losing record for the past 7 years. 😜 PS Past 50 seasons, Horns are 9-1 vs Corn Aggie. -
Saying it is S&C related IS LIKE SAYING 2 guys in a car crash get hit in the knee by the dashboard and they get knees injuries due to failure to workout correctly. Ridiculous. ZERO, I repeat ZERO indications of defective training methods so far. Nothing has been seen with Clark so no way to discuss in detail but..... We saw the Brooks injury when it happened and in slow motion. It was clearly a football impact injury at the knee when his leg was planted on the ground and the defender hit him. Without that hit, Brooks would be 100% fine. Something absolutely had to give when Brooks was hit on his planted leg in the knee area. We now know the Baxter injury in detail, PCL/LCL injury. The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is also a common ligament to become injured in the knee. However, the PCL injury usually occurs with sudden, direct impact, such as in a car accident or during a football tackle. Sound familiar. The Baxter type of injury was 100% caused by an impact collision, based on the injury and multiple reporting we've heard and read. Preposterous to say otherwise. There is no training to prevent injury with those types of traumatic impacts.

OTF Premium USA Today Releases First Team Preseason All Americans
Jerky replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Beck QB preseason #1 makes sense. Hopefully our D makes it difficult for him to remain #1. Multiple candidates in the mix for best RB imo. Ollie certainly had the season stats. But Ollie was limited and even shutdown when he faced teams with a good run D. 😜 Judkins RB may be sharing too many carries with Henderson at OHSt to end up #1. McMillian WR, should get huge stats vs Big 12 like PAC. But is he really top 2? We get a chance at Loveland TE. Really difficult matchup in the passing game. Great to read Banks 1st team OT preseason. Banks may be challenged wiih our schedule/foes like his freshman yr facing multiple NFL DEs. No surprise we have nobody on the preseason 1st team D. But we do play 4 of them. Hook Em! -
No, our current program does not have a S&C issue. Why? Brooks and Baxter were both definitely contact injuries to the knee area from defenders so those were definitely not strength and conditioning issues. Knees are vulnerable to impacts from defenders, an unfortunate part of the game. Gibson was not the one reported to be injured this week. Clark's injury this week was reportedly due to landing awkwardly so that likely was not a S&C issue either. We are advanced and scientific in our training. The combines/drafts show we are physically developing players at an elite level.

Call your shot.... Who's the most overrated team?
Jerky replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
A schedule can play a HUGE role in the final rankings. Sooners are likely overrated at #16. Why? Inexperience at QB, 5 new starters at OL, lost their OC, and their schedule is SO difficult - 6 foes ranked in the top 15. Their D will keep them in games so I can't pick them as most overrated. I don't know ND and FSU thoroughly but these 2 teams seem overrated. ND seems overrated as usual at #7. New transfer QB Leonard has 64% completions and a 145 QBR 2 yrs ago. He's coming off an injury and going to a new team. Maybe the HC and D can uplift them. ND gets FSU at home and 8 fairly easy games. Luck of the Irish there so I can't pick them as most overrated. To answer the questions....FSU is my pick for the most overrated at #10. Why? I don't believe in DJ at QB (career 60% completions, a 145 QBR last year and now on his 3rd new team). Their schedule seems just tough enough to cause them problems. Maybe their HC and athletes on D prevent a drop-off but I believe FSU is overrated. An aside, some of these ranked teams likely benefit from their easier schedules. Penn St, MO, Utes, AZ, NCST, KS and Iowa seem to have more favorable schedules than most teams.
