Our secondary looked better than last season. The emerging Kobe Black and Jonah Williams along with the experience and talent of Jelani McDonald solidified the safety position. Good to have Gideon back coaching the safety position. Phillips got the most snaps at CB and held up well, only a ticky tack call went against him when the ref was at a bad angle to see the interactions imo. CB Roberson quietly had a pretty good day. CB Mascoe had tackling issues. His coverage was OK but TXSt was just a bit better at times. NB Littleton is proven at NB and had a big play. CB Mathews played sparingly but he looks the part. Biles has the athleticism and ball skills to be an asset in pass coverage or effecting the QB blitzing. Areas of concern in pass defense. Cryer doesn't have the quickness or speed or change of direction to be a good cover LB. I'm not a fan of moving Colin from rushing the passer at Edge to playing off ball LB.

Not true. Sikorski has experience at C at Texas this spring and it has been widely covered including here at OTF. He is experienced player and bigger and stronger than Connor. Cojoe played plenty of guard in HS. Did not play LT until his senior year. Did Flood make sense this past season? He moved a zero experience, true freshman Brooks from tackle to guard on game week or game day. 😂 Furthermore I said "Wish we could go back to spring ball and adjust OL." This is a coulda woulda shoulda hindsight OL starting 5 remark. I'm pointing out how Flood could have played it and made things arguably better. Watch Cojoe. He can play. He may be one of our best 5.

Yes, transfer OL Sikorski played C in spring ball at Texas. I don't have Connor at guard. I have 6-6 339 Andre Cojoe at G. Cojoe heavily featured at right guard alongside right tackle early in his high school career. He was widely recruited by major recruiting services as an interior offensive guard prospect. He eventually transitioned to left tackle for his senior season.

Sikorski and Seymore continue their battle to start at LG. Who wins the LG job? Or is there a rotation at LG? Could we have an OL shakeup this week or after Ohio St? Wish we could go back to spring ball and adjust OL. I would like to see the below OL. Believe we could pass block just as well and certainly run block better, especially on the right side.... We saw a similar move when big Leonard Davis moved from tackle to guard for Dallas Cowboys and earned 3 consecutive Pro Bowls while being a stout run blocker. Playing Cojoe more this season could help him for next season.

QB Brandon is a terrific dual-threat talent but zero experience at this level. Glad we are playing the true freshman QB in game 1 of SEC play. Muschamp will have a plan to confuse him, keep him bottled up and attack him when the situations arise. Muschamp at Florida did a masterful job in the 2nd half vs A&M Manziel. Great to read Cojoe is healthy and playing well again. Former Penn State OL Landon Tengwall breaks down the play of Cojoe before his injury, many impressive moments as a run blocker. We were just running out the clock then so not much on film as a pass blocker. No doubt today Cojoe can pass block well considering he is up against our best pass rushers. Like Sark, Colin gave Cojoe high praise. Cojoe looks to be as fit as ever. If Seymore or Sikorski struggle, we have Hutson or Chatman or Coleman but our best option is likely Cojoe. Cojoe is now likely one of our 5 best OL. I'm for starting our 5 best. I'm for big 6-6 339 lbs Cojoe starting at LG. Nothing negative on Seymore or Sikorski, I just think Cojoe is better than both in run blocking and pass blocking. This season if necessary, Cojoe could backup LT or RT (played RT before his injury). If necessary, Siani could also play LT (played LT at WF last season). Baker could also move back to RT if necessary. We have great starters at tackle with Goosby and Siani along with multiple ways to deal with 1 tackle injury.

Good find Keelaannn. LT does a good job breaking down OL film. Cojoe being younger then and those highlights being against Florida makes me feel better about Cojoe as an option this season if necessary. Big guy and moved well for his size. Did some nice things in the run game. Hopefully Cojoe fully recovered from his injury.

Read mild to moderate bone bruises may heal in 4-8 weeks. Severe may be 3-6 months to fully heal. Heard 4-6 weeks may be the Goosby timeline.

We did not have a "ready" backup plan in place after our initial Michigan OL duo transfer plan failed. But it worked out well for Texas with 9-4 Wake Forest's transfer LT/RT 6-6 #317 Melvin Siani. LT Siani dominated in their 43-29 bowl game win over MSST. For the season, Siani had stellar pass blocking stats, 487 pass-blocking snaps with 0 sacks allowed and only 9 pressures allowed (6 hurries and 3 quarterback hits). Elite 80.8 PFF pass blocking grade and good 72.8 overall PFF offensive grade for 2025 season vs ACC competition, Oregon St and MSST. Siani will again play RT (2024 RT) but for Texas. Great portal transfer win for Texas. Texas WKY transfer 6-2 #316 Seymore did not get the benefit of a spring at Texas and is a bit more questionable. Many talk about his good PFF pass blocking grades vs LSU. Some context....WKY had only 22 rushing yds vs LSU. WKY had only 130 passing yds on 41 attempts for 3.2 yds per pass attempt. WKY offense had 152 total yds, 2.3 yds per play. 4/15 on 3rd down and 0/3 on 4th down. WKY lost 10-13. Western Kentucky's Air Raid variation relies heavily on up tempo, quick-hitting passes and schematic relief to avoid pass rush, which can artificially boost an offensive lineman’s individual pass-block win rate. When a quarterback consistently releases the ball in under 2 to 2.5 seconds, even an elite pass rusher may not have physical time to beat a block and record a pressure. Outside of their matchup with LSU and bowl game vs S Miss, WKU’s 2025 schedule consisted almost entirely of bottom-tier or average Group of Five and FCS opponents. They played subpar defenses like North Alabama (FCS), Missouri State (FCS), FIU, New Mexico State, and Middle Tennessee. Most of these programs feature interior defensive linemen who average under 290 pounds and lack NFL-caliber twitch or power move sets. Dominating pass-blocking metrics against Conference USA does not accurately project how a lineman handles 320-pound SEC defensive tackles who can execute advanced stunt-and-twist games. Seymore had average run blocking grades for the season. Regardless, Seymore's high pass blocking grades are encouraging. He can anchor well when he locks on, you saw that in his LSU video. Seymore sets a floor as a pass protector that is better than TX LGs last September. But how will Seymore do if he needs to protect longer vs better competition? If Seymore starts.....Seymore will have his first real test vs Ohio St - Sr Bama transfer disruptor 6-2 #314 DT James Smith, former UA All American rJr transfer 6-3 #303 DT John Walker, and former 5 star 6-3 #292 DT Eddrick Houston. If Seymore does struggle vs this trio, he will likely struggle vs several more SEC teams. But if he doesn't struggle....

Yes, Texas definitely honed in on Michigan's Andrew Sprague and Jake Guarnera. But just before it was a done deal, new HC Whittingham came into the picture as a stabilizing force to help keep the duo at Michigan, forcing the Longhorns to look elsewhere.

Fantastic Texas roster/depth chart that is talented, healthy (🤞) and deep! The established starter is absolutely set at many positions. However, a few positions look much more competitive and somewhat undecided. All I ask for is real competition at any undecided positions. Texas should start or give the most snaps to the players that give us the best chance to win. I hope we start the dogs that play the best and earn it in the Texas heat of fall camp. In some competitions, it may be a heavy situational and merit based rotation to stay fresh and healthy once the season starts. Expect we further refine our depth chart and rotations as the season progresses. This team has a rare and special opportunity. TEXAS FIGHT! 🏈 🤘
