Texas hires new basketball S&C coach
Jerky replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I know nothing but his bio. Experienced and appears to have had a positive role in player development with a few programs. Gerry, any pertinent comments on Darby Rich and Texas? -
Joel Klatt and Sark sit down interview ...
Jerky replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Thx Gerry, I will tune in. Sark certainly had legendary mentors. Sark has been a masterful play caller at times. HC Sark, in his own way, appears to be a great program builder like his legendary mentors. Sark has been growing as a HC while at TX. Sark is genuine and likeable in the media. Sark is my type of recruiter and roster builder. Sark wants to develop his players and get them to the NFL. Finally! TX fans appreciate that Sark has a championship vision for the Longhorns. Impressive to see Texas football entering the SEC with some well earned respect after leaving with a Big 12 Championship and CFP appearance. Now Sark and Texas have another great and challenging opportunity with a great roster. -
OTF Premium Kiotti Armstrong Commits to Texas A&M
Jerky replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
What did that cost em? 6-5 250 Armstrong may develop into a great blocking TE because he is so big. Kiotti had solid production vs 4A competition. While Kiotti Armstrong doesn't resemble Brock Bowers, Kiotti has Sunday upside with his size. Will be interesting to see if Armstrong still takes a TX June OV. We flipped Ag commit Hill last season. Will we try to flip Armstrong? Sark and Banks may prefer to focus on Townsend and/or Edwards because they would be better in a Sark passing attack than Armstrong. 6-3 225 Two-way Townsend was more dynamic than Kiotti. Faster than Kiotti. Impressive 23yds per catch. 6-6 235 Edwards was much more production for 2 seasons than Kiotti. Impressive 19yds per catch. -
SEC has been the best conference for some time for many reasons including leadership and self promotion. As it stands now, we don't have any true SEC highlights for promotion. First TX players to make plays in the SEC may see the play repeated in SEC promotions for years. These Texas players have a chance to make SEC immortality if they make an iconic big play in a big game.

Top 4 OLs are all SEC teams. Coach Flood has done a tremendous job recruiting for the OL room and developing our OL. As DKR once said before the big event "We're ready." 🏉 Excited to see the contract year for LT Banks Jr, LG Conner Sr and C Majors Sr. RG DJ is in year 3 and another year better. Should be fun seeing Big Cam finally show his stuff for a season as a starter. We also have good depth with Hutson, Neto, Agbo, Robertson, Chatman, Goosby, Cojoe, Baker, Cruz, etc. 🤘🏈

Tough choice between the two. Agree, Michael Terry ATH closer to Amari Niblack based on film and photos. Terry is maybe a cross between Amari Niblack, Cordarelle Patterson and a little bit of JT Sanders. If we get Kiotti or Edwards, I prefer adding Terry ATH. If we don't get Kiotti or Edwards, I prefer adding Townsend TE. Happy with either addition. Kiotti Armstrong, Michael Terry and/or Nick Townsend would be fantastic imo! Because we have Washington TE and not much else after we lose our 3 oldest TE/HBs, I would be pleased with the right 3 TE/HBs this recruiting cycle. Coach Banks and Co have done a remarkable job to get underrated Washington TE signed, Winston HB committed and now 5 June TX OVs with realky good prospects. Need to close the deal on at least 2 prospects.

CBS sports top 5 running back rooms in CFB this season
Jerky replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Thanks for posting Gerry. Appreciciate the post on Ohio St RB room being overrated closetojumping. Georgia running behind a great OL helps. 5.9ypc Etienne is well established. Recruiting so well means they almost have to have a top RB room. Agree Penn St has two NFL backs to justify including Penn St in the top 10 or top 5 and over KS imo and I like KS Neal RB. Since I'm not aware of everyone's RB room, this is a leap of faith TX homer take.....Speedster Blue, with 6.1ypc in limited action, has the measureables and talent to perform similar to 1st rd NFL RB Jahmyr Gibbs if given the opportunity. Baxter will be noticeably better after the year of development. Wisner is sort of Keilan 2.0 with a little more power and size. Add in Gibson and Clark just in case. Texas seems like a top 5 RB room if Blue, Baxter and Wisner play like I believe they can. -
OTF Premium Note on Dorian Brew (Wednesday 5am)
Jerky replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
TY. Yes I am aware of Brew's OH ties and his Mom's OHST ties from her track days. Just thought we would at least get a June weekend TX OV considering we don't have four young 5* CBs plus other highly rated CBs like OHSt competing for 2 spots, 3 if you count NB. -
Top 5 WR rooms in CFB this season
Jerky replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Yep. And stay healthy which was a problem at A&M (ankle and leg injuries slowed his progress and caused him to miss some games). Texas listed #3. -
OTF Premium Note on Michael Terry III (Wednesday 7:22 am CST)
Jerky replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Glad to read Michael Terry III is a Texas priority. Fantastic prospect. Don't want to lose him to Nebraska or especially A&M. -
OTF Premium Note on Dorian Brew (Wednesday 5am)
Jerky replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Appreciate the early morning heads up Gerry. 4* Woodby CB decommitted from OHST recently. Hope this wasn't to make room for Brew CB. OH St has 6 CBs in the last 2 classes including 4 elite CBs (5* Scott CB, High 4* West CB, 5* Sanchez CB '25 commit, 5* Offord CB '25 commit). Ducks signed 6 top CBs last cycle (3 recruits and 3 transfers). O and OHSt are loaded with top CB talent. In the next 2 years, I predict at least 1 highly rated CB will transfer from OHST and O. You would think Brew would at least take a home state OV since the path to playing time at Texas is not so daunting compared to OHST and O. -

OTF Premium HOOK 'EM | 2025 CB Caleb Chester Commits to Texas
Jerky replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Hook Em Caleb Chester! Nice to read Caleb is a culture fit and interested in McCombs Business. A 3* CB by all but Caleb"s offer list looks good including 8 SEC and other power programs. Highlights showed several PBUs and a few tackles. I like his 6-1 long frame. Hope he further develops and earns a 4th star. At Texas, Caleb could contribute on special teams coverage units. If Caleb doesn't develop into a TX CB, he could develop into a 6-2 200# TX Safety. Caleb runs track. Only time I read was a Soph 22.88 200M. How fast is Caleb now? 40 time? 100M? 200M? -
So Caleb was the Hi. Thanks Gerry. Knew Caleb was very likely coming at some point but I guessed incorrectly hoping for Michael Terry.

OOS recruits Sharma, Charles, Hilson and Edwards are not done with their recruiting process so I highly doubt any of them committed to Texas this weekend. Surprise TX visitor Tanook Hines has upcoming OVs with ND, then Ark and lastly Baylor. ND has been mentioned as our top competition. TX may now lead for speedster Tanook Hines after this weekend but any commitment will likely come later. Chester or Terry is the most likely to have committed to Texas this weekend. 5* Michael Terry ATH is potentially some combination of Amari Niblack, JT Sanders and Cordarelle Patterson. As a HB/Flex TE, Terry would be a 1-on-1 mismatch for most college defenders playing LB or S or NB. TX is reportedly giving him that option on offense. Terry does have an OV scheduled for A&M this weekend so it is possible he is also waiting for that last visit to end before deciding. But Terry LOVES Texas so I will guess he silently committed knowing he has an exciting opportunity on the TX offense. If true, that is FANTASTIC!

Is anybody other than maybe Georgia capable of exposing our secondary in a big way like a red hot 6th yr WA QB protected by a Joe Moore Award OL with 3 NFL WRs and 1 NFL TE? We have DL depth. 9 IDL - Collins Norton Savea Lole Broughton Mitchell Bledsoe Bryant January 6 SDE/Edge - Sorrell Burke Finkley Vasek Moore Simmons We are clearly better at SDE/EDGE with 3 new options for the rotation. We will miss the stellar play of Murphy and Sweat but we have 9 guys to possibly rotate to stay fresh. 3 LBs Hill Gbenda and Blackwell are proven. Only loss is Ford. 4 starting highly rated DBs are 1 yr better - Williams S Makuba S Muhammad CB Barron NB Cole CB and Holmes CB are fast. Taaffe S is sound. Guilbeau NB is healthy and has the confidence of the coaches. 5* Black CB and 5* Filsaime S could be ready to be contributors by mid season or the CFP. Offense is loaded. We know how to score. Enough said. Bring it on. Hook Em!

Hi Gerry! Don't be a stranger, come on back, even if it is just to say Hi.

What are the SEC affliated bowls besides the CFP games? Asking for the Sooners, Aggies and Piggies.😜🤘
-
Yes, accidentally posted before including the 2019 home loss to LSU, Cookie Monster A/C lies and 2020 game cancelation. Didn't see an edit button.

I'm old school. I rightly consider the Land Thieves, Sheep Humpers and Piggies as TX rivals. All Longhorns should. Besides these 3 classic rivalries.... I see 3 teams as more likely to become our next big rivalry.... Alabama - TX is 7-2-1 vs Bama all-time. Bama is an elite Blue Blood but has struggled vs Texas and their fans don't like hearing about it. Unfortunately, Bama is 2-1 recently. Bama injured Colt and as a result we lost the 2009 NC. Mack and TX were never the same after that loss. Bama has taken numerous top TX recruits that we needed since that NC loss. Our recent hard fought 1-1 home-away series had the excitement and intensity of a rivalry game. TX fans recognized annoying Bama and Saban were getting the best of us. Bama is now coached by DeBoer (HC record 104-12) who beat us twice including most recently a CFP semifinal. Ewers vs Milroe (TX recruit) for Heisman and NFL draft. With the new SEC CG rules, TX could meet Bama in the upcoming SEC CG and possibly the CFP. Georgia - TX is 4-1 vs Georgia all-time. TX physically beat up on Georgia in winning the 2018 Sugar Bowl but Georgia fans shrugged it off and later won back-to-back NCs. Way back, TX lost a heartbreaker to Georgia in the 1984 Cotton Bowl on a muffed punt in the swirling wind late in the game which cost us a damn NC. Never should have attempted to catch the punt. Georgia is the arguably the SEC top dog this year. TX hosts GA this year. We likely battle for elite recruits more than usual with our move to the SEC. Ewers vs Beck for Heisman and NFL draft. TX could face off with Georgia again in the upcoming SEC CG and possibly the CFP. Georgia is the odds on favorite to be our next big rivalry imo. And don't forget Bevo hates bulldog UGA. LSU - TX is 9-7-1 vs LSU all-time. TX won the last meeting 35-20 in the 2003 Cotton Bowl in big part thanks to Roy Williams. TX and LSU share a border and battled for decades for countless athletic recruits. Coach Kelly is a fake; Sark is genuine like all good Texans. Bo Davis has coached both sides and recruited poorly while at Texas imo. We are now battling Bo and his TX development reputation for IDL Brown and Williams. With the new SEC CG rules, TX could meet LSU in the upcoming SEC CG and possibly the CFP. A tiger is more of a threat to Bevo than UGA. Dark horse teams seem to be Ole Miss (Kiffen/Sark history), MO (Big 12 history), TN (Right to claim UT and OU QB HC) and maybe Florida if they upset us and get back on track soon which seems doubtful. This season should help determine who will emerge as our next big rivalry. We've got to beat Georgia at least once this year to get on their radar. We have more history with Bama/DeBoer than Georgia/Smart. I will be a bit of a contrarian and say the annoying Alabama will be our next big rivalry. But I hope it is LSU because I really enjoy good creole and cajun food.

OTF 4-star ATH Tanook Hines on OV to Texas
Jerky replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Thanks for the info. Wow, 10.45 100M, 10.53 100M (3rd) and 20.71 200M (2nd) Elite speed, 6-1 with length at 190 as a Jr. Explosive highlights. No surprise Hines has a great offer list. Underrated as a prospect by 247, ON3, Rivals and ESPN. Rare combo of measurables. Has upside at WR and DB. Could be fantastic on TX special teams. Hope TX has room and tries to take Hines as a WR/ATH since he may prefer WR. -
Let's Discuss DL Prospects for the 2025 TX class?

Let's Discuss DL Prospects for the 2025 TX class?
Jerky replied to Jerky's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Brandon Brown picked to sign with LSU at 60% by LSU insider Billy Embody. Hopefully Brown takes his OV to Texas so we can counter punch. NT and DT recruiting is an ongoing concern. Feel better about Edge position room and Edge recruiting. -
Let's Discuss DL Prospects for the 2025 TX class?
Jerky replied to Jerky's topic in On Texas Football Forum
How many Edge players in the 2025 class including Lance Jackson? Any thoughts on our chances with Jayvion Hilson, Hayden Lowe, Smith Orogbo, Marco Jones and Damien Shanklin? Thx! @Gerry Hamilton
