    The portal is littered with D2, D3, walk ons, and fringe D1 players cut from their previous squad. Those are the guys not finding homes and football just isn’t their thing. Guys who can play that get talked into the portal are still finding homes even if the grass isn’t greener. If you think that is a problem worth addressing I won’t argue that but there isn’t a big “homelessness crisis” due to the portal. The portal may be shining a light on the natural churn that always existed at the lower ranks of the sport.

    So nobody who can play ball is getting left out. They might not be in a perfect situation nor make as much as they’d like but that’s different than the crisis mongers stating thousands of players are essentially homeless and wouldn’t be in a pre-portal world.

    Somebody needs to walk me through this “crisis” and explain it to me like I’m three. Roster sizes haven’t shrunk, they’ve stayed the same while scholarship limits have gone up. The portal should be one big game of musical chairs with enough roster spots for everyone once the music stop. Who or how are all of these players getting displaced? Who are they being replaced by? D2 guys moving up? I have a suspicion that the portal is filled with guys that either got cut or are out of eligibility anyways and wouldn’t be on rosters even in a pre-portal world. Surely there are some that are currently overpricing themselves but they still have an opportunity to lower their demands and make a roster. Everyone who is viable will be on a roster. Where is the crisis?

    Why is Horton so coveted? Wasn’t he Bama’s #3 last year? Big guy, red zone target but not a deep threat. People are saying he’s bama’s best receiver but isn’t that Bernard followed by Williams?

    Yeah on a recent livestream I think they said not uncommon for portal visits to be truncated. But the additional day generally a good thing. HS visits are a full 48 hours planned out every hour. But portal more down to business.

    Following up on this @Bobby Burton, I know the portal additions will affect this, but all things being equal would you prefer that Nick compete for starting at Guard or be a primary backup at both Tackle spots?

    We’re going to end up with a B+ portal class, minimum. We’ve been aiming for A+. We’re in good shape.

    I don’t think it’s that concerning. Michigan just hit a HR with Whittingham. If they chose poorly we’d have probably got them.
