  1. I’d be fine trying to lockdown Kelshaun and Lockett, and keeping a spot open for either Moore or Ffrench and not reaching for anyone else.
  2. Sorry for the tangent, but I have a general recruiting question. When looking at the recruiting calendar what is considered an early/late offer these days? Is it as simple as: offer during sophomore season or before = early offer during jr season throughout the summer = normal/average offer during senior season = late Or is there a more nuanced answer?
  3. I think Taysom Hill just scored.
  4. Why is Hutson never mentioned in this race? Seems like he provides the best blend of pass protection, run game physicality, and experience.
  5. Wasn’t Neto listed as one of the toughest/meanest on the roster? Zina should be used to getting picked on by big bro growing up 😂
  6. Only if his name begins with D and rhymes with Floor, haha.
  7. Sark is good at breaking tendencies. So even if usage trends in one direction, he can exploit matchups later. Remember the Iowa St game when Helm was dialed up on some plays you might have expected for JT.
  8. This also makes me feel better in case the spring game visit falls through. Of course if all of them remain even better.
  9. Wanted to edit but CJ made my point about 2006. His skepticism about 07 also correct.
  10. Great discussion, but can’t believe all three of y’all confused the 2006 team with 2007. 2006 six was championship caliber with the exception of freshman colt at qb. But both lines and many skill positions were stout. We went on a run after the Ohio St loss only to falter after Colt got knocked out of KSU and A&M games. Maybe would have missed the playoff but only due to Colt’s injury. Definitely a good team to be proud of. 07 was the disaster with nailbiters against Arkansas St and UCF. Defense was terrible and the offense inconsistent despite JamChuck’s brilliance. Even John Chiles got some legit snaps at qb. The only good thing about this season was Macduff getting fired so that Muschamp could be brought in for the 08-09 run. Good topic, fun discussion.
  11. Hi OTF, Would it be possible to spend some time and do a deep dive on all the new network deals and conference affiliations? I know CBS will no longer do the SEC game of the week and Fox will now have a Friday night game. It would be great to get a sense of where all of the games will appear and be slotted. (IE the SEC #1 will go on abc primetime, SEC #2 ESPN 11am, BIG 10 #1 CBS 230, or whatever the case may be). Might be good off season content, especially during the dog days of summer. And if anyone has a great article that outlines all of this, please share!
  12. Our shaky middle relief and unreliable closer make up for it though.
  13. Great series win 🤘 Much rather have Pierce than the other hot names that were mentioned upon his hire like Tadlock and Schlossnagle. Please bring up their sterling cws records.
  14. “Just tap it in…. just tap it in…”
  15. I’m with Gerry on the DT position. Sure it will take a step back and is an area of needed development but we can work around it. If those guys were the best duo since Hampton/Rodgers, guess what, we have had a lot of experience playing without that type production and have been able to field some pretty good Defenses on the whole. Definitely need to coach up the guys there and scheme around potential deficiencies. As for Sydir, I’m not looking for him to dominate in 2024. But what I want to hear is that he looks like he could dominate in 2025. If he is making those steps he’ll provide the quality snaps we need this year. We need to stop comparing (contrasting) the 2024 guys with Sweat/Murphy and evaluate them against what is needed for the D to be conference/national championship contenders.
  16. I’m not as strident as you on this issue, but definitely leaning in this direction. From an overall roster management and development perspective it makes sense. Just don’t go too far in one direction.
  17. Cue up Wes Anderson and Eli Wallach while we’re at it. Wait, Wallach is probably no longer with us.
  18. That criminal charges were not pursued seems quite irrelevant to me. Everyone agrees on the basic facts of the case and they’re not good in the best of light. Programs evaluate, downgraded, and back off recruitments for character related issues all the time, very few of which have anything to do with criminality. Sark has tirelessly worked to build and maintain a strong culture with high character kids. This incident is obviously a bright red flag.
  19. Also of note for HCU, Lance Berkman is their Head Coach.
