  1. I asked Flood about 3rd quarter woes in the back half of the season in 2024. Flood says there wasn’t one specific area that caused for tough quarters, but more how the game took on the life of its own. Mentioned he didn’t want to manufacture just to give an answer, but that they certainly aren’t wanting to have dry spells at any point through the game as an OC
  2. Flood says he doesn’t think the offense will be drastically different but that Texas will certainly tailor towards the strength of the personnel on the field. “Systematically, we have a really strong foundation.”
  3. Flood says the staff had been doing some work with the Coleman brothers online before they arrived in Austin for the summer. But he has liked seeing how they moved so far this summer.

  8. Banks was asked what traits they look for with freshmen to play special teams: speed, trust, physicality “If you can flat out run, you are going to play special teams.”
  9. “Jack Endries gives us a proven pass receiver and a proven guy in the box.”
  10. TE room is much more versatile with the freshmen and portal addition says Banks.
  11. Littleton, Barnes, Phillips were mentioned as expected special teams contributors from the freshman class.
  12. Banks also mentions Texas will likely be more of a pressure unit on punt return, meaning coming after block punts instead of setting up returns.
  13. Jeff Banks says three guys they have trust in at the moment in the return game: DeAndre Moore, Ryan Niblett and Tre Wisner
  14. On Mason Shipley, Jeff Banks says he looks at three factors 1. Body of Work 2. Leg Talent Banks mentions most of the kicks Bert Auburn was missing were north of 45 yards. 3. Looking for a guy who can come in and make kicks at this level. “Mason has a great disposition.”
  15. PK says a big reason for success of the program is the continuity of the coordinators at Texas. PK adds why he and everyone else has stayed at Texas despite having job offers elsewhere “We are all good dudes and we get along.”
  16. When speaking about vocal leaders — outside of Taaffe — PK mentions Guilbeau, McDonald, Trey Moore and Ty Smith as guys doing well in the vocal aspect of the game.
  17. PK mentions Manny Muhammad, Jaylon Guilbeau, Kobe Black and Warren Roberson are fighting for the two cornerback positions. Also says freshman CB Kade Phillips is doing well.
  18. PK says not every call is a perfect call, but having a guy like Michael Taaffe in the back end helps patches up errors or diagnose what is going on before a snap occurs.
  19. PK was asked about “abrupt movement” penalty changes in 2025 on the defensive front. He didn’t have a very fun reaction and believes it will be a week to week approach depending on the officiating crew.
