  1. Sark: Whether it is the Big 12 or the SEC, the expectation is we are competing for conference championships and national championships.
  2. Sarkisian says the mental intensity needed to compete in the SEC is higher than in most other conferences.
  3. "The way we look at it, this is an SEC Championship Game... with no divisions, you better finish at the top (of the SEC standings)."
  4. Sarkisian says the staff will monitor opponent's injury reports but won't but all of their eggs in the basket of what other teams say.
  5. WR DeAndre Moore did practice today as well. (hip pointer)
  6. Sarkisian says the Texas offense really has not had to change too much due to the RB injuries so far this season. "We believe in running the football, we believe in running between the tackles." Sark mentions having a veteran QB helps in all facets.
  7. "We have an NFL offense, which is why I think it was attractive for those guys to want to come." – Sarkisian speaking on the four new faces in the WR room choosing Texas at some point this offseason.
  8. Sarkisian says the staff wanted to get the five best defensive backs on to the field this season. Mentioned that if the staff kept Jahdae Barron at STAR, one of Barron and Jaylon Guilbeau would be standing on the sideline next to him.
  9. On the LB group: Sarkisian says the two defensive players of the game were both linebackers which speaks to the depth and talent in that room. "We have always felt very highly of Lefau." On TyAnthony Smith: "I thought we were getting a developmental player... He is very instinctual." Sarkisian says Texas feels very good about the LB position as well.
  10. Sarkisian says RB Jaydon Blue walked out of his position meeting this morning and said "Man, I should have played a lot better." Blue rushed for 124 yards and scored 4 total TD.
  11. Sarkisian says in his rewatch there were 5-6 plays from Arch that he would have liked to have seen checked down instead of forced downfield.
  12. "It was great to have Jaydon Blue back, he played a very good football game."
  13. Sarkisian says it's been really cool to see some of his former Longhorns in the NFL. Watched Bijan Robinson and Xavier Worthy last night.
  14. Sarkisian opens up by saying the fan support was great and the environment at DKR was tremendous. Says to see how it has evolved since year one has been awesome. Tip of the cap to the administration.
  15. Starting in the next 2-3 mins.
  16. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is on the podium this morning discussing the Longhorns' 4–0 start to the season. Looking for updates on Quinn Ewers and the health of DeAndre Moore as SEC play kicks off this weekend against Mississippi State. Texas remains the No. 1 team in the country entering the beginning of conference play. Notes and quotes in the comments.
  17. Sign me up for that combo!
  18. Couldn't agree more. There are instant impact guys available with the 2024 freshmen class and that's such a luxury when combining them with the older group on campus at the moment. Great point.
  19. I've not yet heard what the plan will be with Owens. I would believe they would prefer to redshirt him, but with only three scholarship QB's on roster, you don't have the luxury of finding other options to get on the field. Also, similarly to Arch, these snaps are important for development for Owens. If the redshirt is burnt but he is able to see 100 snaps this year, that's incredibly valuable. Right now, Owens is at 27 snaps through two games.
  20. A quick look at the true freshmen on roster and what the redshirt eligibility looks like four games in. Of course, the NCAA has allowed it for freshmen to appear in up to four games while retaining their redshirt status. Texas is in a position now due to their depth to make long term decisions with freshmen and whether or not the appeal to a redshirt fits what they want to do with each player long term. At the moment, the players at the four game threshold are: EDGE Colin Simmons WR Ryan Wingo CB Kobe Black RB Jerrick Gibson LB TyAnthony Smith DL Alex January P Michael Kern
  21. Of 21 qualifying QB's, Arch's ADOT of 12.6 is the second longest in all of the SEC. Quinn Ewers' 6.2 ADOT is the shortest.
  22. A season low 42.86% of presnap motion was used in the ULM game. Very basic, vanilla offense for the most part before the snap.
  23. Going through the numbers now but motion is way down with Arch at QB compared to Quinn.
