  1. Well they can't run block. And we will see how much usage Jadyn Ott gets after just one rush attempt against Illinois State. However, Mateer should have some time in pass protection. Still, if things get one-dimensional, that is going to be a long day for the OU offense. I'm expecting it to be like a 21–17 final score one way or the other.
  2. Certainly wish tOSU/Texas or LSU/Clemson was this weekend instead. And you are definitely right about the pedestrian slate. I think Baylor gives #17 SMU a run for their money. But tha'ts really the only one that stands out if I am honest. Ole Miss is only an 8.5-point favorite over Kentucky which doesn't quite make sense, but I don't view Kentucky as having nearly as much talent as the Rebs.
  3. I have not heard of anything significant in terms of missing extended time. However, we discussed at OTF to not divulge on injury news this close to kickoff. (I know, I know).
  4. He is pretty darn close. I would still expect to see his touches hard capped at 15 over the next three weeks. Texas will continue to get him up to speed and those live reps are crucial to him returning to his ceiling, but there is obviously some caution that the staff will be proceeding with.
  5. I would expect to see a Campbell/Hutson-like split from the last two years with Stroh and Neto. Meaning, you probably see Stroh at LG for 75% of snaps over the next three games and perhaps leaking into SEC play.
  6. None are competitive. Most talent is probably SJSU.
  7. Definitely. I would bet Caldwell is the first on the field tomorrow, as he is firmly in QB2 land. Then, my expectation Lacey gets time early on. Real decisions to be made here for Sark/Milwee on who they see getting these valuable live reps.
  8. Will probably keep eyes glued on this thread for the next 75 minutes or so!
  9. For the OTF OG's, ask me anything! It is late enough on a Friday afternoon where you can go ahead and mentally log out and prepare for the upcoming weekend of football. To help get you to the weekend, feel free to get your questions in!
  10. I'm hoping not for field goal attempts this weekend, but can't help but wonder what Mason Shipley will eventually look like this season.
  11. He's a stud. Feels like he always finds the football, regardless of where it is.
  12. Going to be plenty of points in Cowboys games this season. That is for sure.
  13. There were three big time throws arch completed in the 4Q that should have him feeling somewhat confident. Endries on the sideline, Livingstone TD & Livingstone 4th down attempt. All elite NFL level throws.
  14. Texas scored 7 points. Whether they were high or not, they were higher than one single touchdown last Saturday. It was a failure of a game plan and it was a failure of execution.
  15. Nickel.
  16. Definitely. Really, my biggest takeaway from that is the trust the staff had in Zina Umeozulu to play the run as often as he did. He was one of the edge rushers when Texas went big on the goal. And no, not really too surprised by Jackson. He is a total stud and plays the run better than the other two. Vasek will see 25 snaps this weekend against a team that throws the ball 45 times.
  17. I thought Chase Daniel's breakdown was great.
  18. Good stuff by Chase Daniel to breakdown the quarterback position this weekend.
  19. Wanted to share my final thoughts on Arch Manning ahead of the non-conference action over the next three weeks. I think Arch Manning will be fine. The quickest way to elevate his game is to truly trust that offensive line which played admirably against Ohio State last Saturday. Trust in the offensive line will do a few things: 1. Slow down the game, allowing Arch to read his keys instead of skipping chapters to find a check down. 2. Allow Arch to play comfortably within the pocket, cleaning up the mechanical issues we saw due to a sped up internal clock. 3. Provide opportunities for routes downfield to develop and come open downfield, something that happened on Saturday but was not given a chance as a result of some skiddishness. Three weeks to improve and as a betting man, the one thing I am not going to do is bet against Arch Manning.
