  1. This was probably the most difficult game to choose three players to recognize that Texas has played this season. In actuality, I don't think three players were entirely deserving, but for the sake of the list, this is where we land Star No. 1: TyAnthony Smith Smith is on his way to becoming one of the best linebackers Texas has had in quite some time. Of course, playing alongside Anthony Hill Jr. has allowed Smith to play freely. You see the instincts clearly on the huge forced fumble in the 2nd quarter as well. Smith also added 1.5 tackles for loss and remains one of the better gap shooters Texas has. Star No. 2: Anthony Hill Jr. It may not have felt like Hill was as active as he typically is in a given game, but he was credited with 14 tackles on Saturday. That is six more than the next highest tackler on the field for the Longhorns. Jadan Baugh was getting to the second level frequently and Hill was there to clean it up just about every time. Star No. 3: Michael Taaffe This is where I get to maybe three stars weren't entirely deserving on Saturday, but I will give it to Taaffe. The interception was very important to give Texas a chance late in the 4th quarter. However, Taaffe had a chance to bring down Dallas Wilson on his long TD and failed to do so. Still, I am not sure I can point to many others who had as significant impact on Saturday. HM1 – Ryan Wingo: Had Wingo hauled in the sideline pass that he dropped, he would have been up top in the three stars category. But he finds himself here instead, still an impactful Saturday. HM2 – Colin Simmons: The bar is incredibly high for Simmons this year and Texas fans will want more of a guy who spoke about breaking the school sack record. But four of your six QB pressures came from Simmons, and he single handedly destroyed a Florida drive by himself in run support.
  2. I will shave my head on stream if this team wins out the remainder of the season.
  3. Pittman is a great OL architect. I’d be shocked if it ever happened, however.
  4. Yes, but again, it wasn't like Lagway was threading needles down the field. Those 8 in the box is exactly where the majority of Lagway's passes ended up.
  5. Preseason No. 1 to rebuilding year by week six is nothing short of a failure by everyone involved.
  6. DJ Lagway had the 4th shortest time to throw rate in the country for week six quarterbacks. The average time from snap to release of the football took just 2.32 seconds. As a result, the Texas pass rush was able to generate a season low six pressures on the quarterback. Four of which coming from Colin Simmons. The Longhorns did not sack the quarterback for the second time this season, both of which occurring in losses. Lagway was 15-16 on passes under ten yards downfield for 109 yards and most importantly, zero passes were put in harms way. *** I guess my biggest question to this is, after two weeks of game planning for a team that was the very worst in the country in attempting and completing deep shots, what did you expect was going to happen in this game?
  7. At this point I am beginning if we ever see him in a Texas uniform.
  8. Unfortunately it appears that may be the direction it’s heading
  9. Despite being ruled OUT, CJ Baxter did make the trip to Florida for the game in his home state. Injured players who are declared out ahead of Gametime are able to travel without counting towards the 74.
  10. Wanted to keep a running count of which Longhorns did and did not make the 74-man cut for the trip to Gainesville this weekend. As of this morning, OTF can confirm the following did not make the trip for the Florida game. QB Trey Owens RB Rickey Stewart WR Michael Terry III OTF will update the thread as new information arrives.
  11. Tune in live from Spurrier’s! https://www.youtube.com/live/Nz9OvfIcsaw?si=EF-_M9kReH5AlRoX
  12. The OTF staff has finalized their score predictions for the Texas-Florida meeting tomorrow afternoon in The Swamp!
  13. Game saving play, awesome to see from AC
  14. 26–14 Texas Don't ask how they get to 26, they just do!
  15. Good thing it's still 90º in Austin for these practices lol
  16. Gibson has played very well recently. The fear of fumbles is still legit and will definitely test the staff's trust in him, but he has been very solid at finding slivers of daylight in the run game.
  17. Shoot, you aren't wrong.
  18. Fielding punts will be very difficult in this game
  19. There has been plenty of conversation about the weather and what is expected this weekend from Mother Nature in The Swamp. According to AccuWeather, precipitation is very likely. Playing in wet conditions obviously isn't ideal for the passing game, but perhaps the most concerning aspect of this forecast is wind gusts pushing north of 25 mph. Cloudy, windy and wet looks like the full game forecast. Pretty good reason as to why the total for this game is 41.5.
  20. Pretty cool right there!
  21. We will see an official statement tonight when Texas drops its injury availability report through the SEC, but wanted to drop some intel. RB Quintrevion Wisner has been moving well in practice I have learned. Wisner has not seen action since the season opener against Ohio State, but the expectation is he sees the field in a healthy amount come Saturday. As for RB CJ Baxter, there remains some room for increased usage coming off of his injury sustained against UTEP. I lean towards doubtful with the 3rd year running back, who would be playing in his home state this weekend. The injury report should give a deeper idea of what Baxter's availability will be, but as of Wednesday afternoon, I am not expecting a ton.
  22. This sport is hilarious man, I love it
  23. I will add, I have been told Mateer is also dealing with a knee sprain at the moment as well. Between the hand and the knee, probably not an ideal outlook for Oklahoma as their schedule gets going after Texas.
