  1. Howard issues back-to-back walks to Ethan Mendoza and Casey Borba. This is shades of last season. Things tended to snowball on him once an inning got away from him.
  2. Guys like Farmer and Borba can help Texas win games, either as a DH or at multiple spots (Farmer can play everywhere in the outfield and Borba can play both corner infield spots).
  3. Howard grooved one down the heart of the plate and Chamberlain hit a tank to right field.
  4. BOOM! Cole Chamberlain takes Cody Howard deep to right for a 2-run bomb!
  5. Howard went upstairs and got Easton Winfield to hack at strike three.
  6. Looked like a slider or a cutter that Howard used to retire Gasparino on strikes.
  7. Coach Ty Harrington is awesome on color commentary.
  8. I'm glad everybody is getting a look at Gasparino. He's listed at 225 pounds after adding some good weight in the fall.
  9. Volantis got Faltine to chop one back to the mound. Galvan's throw sailed over Schuessler's head at first base, allowing Faltine to reach. David Hamilton goes down on a 1-2 putout, but Duke Ellis scores on the throwing error. Schuessler took a nasty spill at first base, but it looks like he's OK.
  10. Faltine is in his Reds jersey, wearing No. 30. Same number Ken Griffey Jr. wore in Cincy.
  11. After Volantis walks Silas Ardoin on four pitches, the bases are loaded for the Alumni. Trey Faltine is up with one out.
  12. Volantis is a little bit of a jam. He's got runners on second and third with one out after getting Mike Antico to ground out to first.
  13. Cody Howard allowed a two-out base hit to Jalin Flores, but he got Rylan Galvan to pop out to Dylan Campbell in foul territory down the right field line to end the first.
  14. Dylan Volantis with a 6-pitch first inning. Got Zach Zubia looking to retire the Alumni in the top of the first.
  15. It gets started at 2:30 on the LHN app for those interested in watching.
  16. Weaver was on the SEC injury report Friday night and was ruled out for Saturday’s road game against LSU.
  17. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been naive regarding the Longhorns. But unless there’s a legitimate answer in the portal, Washington, Townsend and Shannon will have to grow up in a hurry.
  18. The injury set him back. I can't recall him being an active practice participant in the practices I've watched since he got to Texas.
  19. Sark would probably tell you it's a little of both. I'll lean more toward a lack of options. Klare is/was redundant with Niblack, which made it easier for the staff to move on from him, IMO. Either way, Texas would rather be in a position of trying to make the pieces fit than being one injury away from being in a bind. What I was thinking of when I wrote this was from the perspective that there might not be a suitable option in the portal. Rather than reach for someone to improve the numbers, I'd rather Sark double down on playmaking ability at either RB or WR to give Arch another weapon.
