  1. Malik Muhammad will round out today’s availability.
  2. Winning a national championship is the goal, but Lefau said Texas is a team that’s focused on the process. Sark has compared it to climbing a mountain, and Lefau said they’re taking things one step at a time en route to the summit.
  3. Even though the coaches are easing CJ Baxter back into the mix, “he’s picked up where he left off,” Lefau said.
  4. “There’s not a lot of tight ends who want to catch and run routes,” Lefau said Jack Endries. “He’s good at both.”
  5. Lefau said Brad Spence is a “physical, violent player.”
  6. Wisner said “it’s going to be crazy” when he and Baxter start attacking defenses as a 1-2 punch in the backfield.
  7. “It’s just a watch list at the end of the day,” Wisner said about being on the Doak Walker Award watch list. “Nothing is etched in stone.”
  8. NFL scouts from the Commanders, Broncos, Jaguars and Vikings were at Texas practice today.
  9. Wisner said he changed his eating habits to help him on the right kind of weight in the offseason. ”Eat like a champion,” is how he described his new eating habits.
  10. When asked about people on the outside expecting a drop-off with the offensive line, Campbell said the line isn’t concerned with what’s said about them. He’s not expecting a drop-off this season.
  11. DJ Campbell he’s tried to take on the leadership role within the offensive line, along with Cole Hutson and Trevor Goosby.
  12. Whatever helps strengthen the argument to get the ball into Jermaine Bishop's hands.
  13. My high school defensive coordinator and English teacher, Reagan Willman. Out of Menard High School, he was a walk-on at Texas for three years (1994-96). He earned a letter in 1996. A coach and teacher who helped mold me and changed my life for the better. He has a degree from UT and rings for the last SWC title and the first Big 12 championship. Coach Willman is my favorite No. 24 ever for the Longhorns. (And because of the Ron McKelvey fiasco, he's the only No. 24 listed on the 1994 and 1995 rosters.)
  14. So, to recap: — Sark said the defense is ahead of the offense, which he’s OK with for now. The offense needs to start picking it up, specifically letting go of negative plays and not letting things linger. — He likes the offensive line’s depth, even after Andre Cojoe’s injury. — DJ Campbell was back at practice today. Ryan Wingo should be full go on Thursday. — The defense is doing a good job of playing the ball. — Emmett Mosley has impressed Sark with tools that are better than what the staff initially expected. — There was a lot of praise for the interior defensive linemen, and Sark believes Texas has more guys who can play more snaps than what Kenny Baker’s group had last season.
  15. Sark said there’s “some mental toughness” that needs to start emerging on offense.
  16. Still, he said Tre Wisner had a 50-60-yard touchdown during a live period today.
  17. Sark said the defense is ahead of the offense.
  18. Sark said with the options they’ve got at nickel, it could be opponent-specific and/or game-plan specific regarding who gets the most snaps there.
  19. Sark said he’s not in a rush for a starter at nickel to emerge. “I need versatility there,” he said.
