  1. Honestly, I’m surprised Milwee is still at Texas tbh. I’m sure he’s received OC offers elsewhere over the years, but he’s remained loyal to Sark. He might be eyeing an NFL gig soon. Michael Bimonte was promoted to assistant QB coach. Could be Milwee’s successor if he leaves. Milwee won’t get fired, but Sark would encourage him to get out while the getting is still good. I agree with you that QB play outside of a handful of games should be better in year five of this staff than it is today. The QBs may change (Card, Thompson, Ewers, Murphy, now Manning) but those same issues remain. Like you, I also wonder how much Milwee teaches vs how much Sark teaches the QB mechanics. Were Tagovailoa and Jones just generational QBs?
  2. James Franklin is the most obvious answer. Other options include Brian Kelly, Marcus Freeman, Dan Lanning, and 2019-2023 Ryan Day.
  3. Need more sacks, forced fumbles, and interceptions I agree with that. Still worried about Gilbeau and Muhammad. We won’t know how much they’ve really improved until early October.
  4. A play action bootleg would’ve been sweet
  5. If I’m not mistaken, 2020 was the year Herman hired Mike Yurcich to call plays on offense. Two things: it was a COVID season, so not sure how many teams were able to properly install their defensive schemes. 69 of their points came from the K-State game the week after Texas missed the Big 12 title game due to losing to ISU. It is alarming the ppg output is on a downtrend no doubt. The ypg looks pretty, but if you can’t score points, it doesn’t mean much.
  6. I think he wants to do both because his ego won’t let him give it up and one of his greatest mentors, Pete Carroll, did that when he was at USC. Carroll was both the head coach and defensive coordinator/playcaller during his tenure there and won a couple of natties. Sark is trying to prove he can do that too.
  7. How, going into year five, has the offense gotten to this point with the offensive mastermind they have? I will say the defensive recruiting has been superior to the offensive recruiting. I was skeptical of PK after his first season and mid-way through his second season, but he has really come around the last few seasons. Why can't the offense do the same? I thought by year five, Texas would be averaging 40+ ppg, but it seems to be regressing every season. I would argue the best offensive performance I've seen from Sark at Texas was in Red River in 2021 with a healthy Casey Thompson. Makes you wonder if teams have figured him out and he still can win because the defense is fantastic and not all opponents have the talent to stop them despite knowing what's coming.
  8. That’s why I think the defense’s performance was good but not elite. Needed more splash plays. No sacks, no turnovers. A few too many penalties. Leaky coverage bailed out by drops.
  9. Gotta see them @ Miami and @ LSU to make an accurate judgement of them.
  10. It’s been a problem the previous two seasons and appears to be a problem again this season. It can’t be the QB only.
  11. When he’s not playing Michigan, he’s the second best HC in the game behind Kirby.
  12. Have to wonder if these mechanics are being taught to them by the staff at this point.
  13. Love Hill and Simmons, but in these big games, they’ve mostly been M.I.A. They will flash for sure in the next few games, but I want them to make game changing plays in the big games. Can they do it against UF, OU, UGA, etc.?
  14. When you can’t complete a simple drag route it looks that way. I do think Wingo should’ve risked an OPI to prevent that INT by Arch though.
  15. Dabo counts if you still see him as the HC he was from 2015-2020. Not sure about him now unless he wins big in the postseason this year. But the only great win over the other great HCs was Saban 2023 and that’s probably because he knew his defensive scheme inside and out.
  16. The backup QB is always a stud
  17. Very James Franklin, Brian Kelly, Dan Lanning esque coaching
  18. Joel Klatt hinting the James Franklin accusations are about to begin
  19. Go for two if they score like it's the 1969 Arkansas game
  20. Devin Sanchez got cooked, but to be fair that was a Penix Sugar Bowl type of throw by Manning
  21. Throwing in this situation tells me this might be rigged for Vegas
  22. Three timeouts to burn. Get a three and out and you have a chance albeit a very slim chance
  23. Basically have three timeouts if you include the two minute timeout if you can force a three and out.
  24. There's that deep ball we've been waiting for!
