    I remember back in the day standing right next to this guy in his full uniform. Lavell Pinkney was a freak. Not including linemen I have never seen a Skill position player with his physique, especially his lower half. He was all butt and thighs. I remember thinking this guys hind quarters look like a thoroughbred horse. Dude could move too.

    I’m sure the majority of evaluations are the eye test during practice sessions , and film study of practices. More specifically OL evaluations. Full contact 11 on 11, can get pretty congested and hard to read in real time. I’m sure this is where film study is most important. Was wondering how much coaches listen to opposing position players input. Hey Gefrard, January, or Hero, “ which one of these guards appear to be the strongest, which one is hardest to get around or through, which one is hardest to get off their block, etc… Same for WR vs DB’s. Any coaches on here???

    ……how does NIL payments work? Say you offer a kid $1M for a year. Does he get it all upfront, half upfront and the other half at end of year, or in monthly or bi-weekly payments????

    …first off congrats to the team on a great season. I don’t claim to be a college baseball coach, but doesn’t mean I can’t have opinions. Hat tip to Georgia’s coaches for their game plan against Texas. Pound the strike zone on first pitch until Texas proves they aren’t taking until they get a strike. Throw it right over the middle of the plate until Texas proves they aren’t taking until they get a strike. Once you get Texas batter down 0-1, throw a slider that starts over the plate and breaks off the plate. Once you have Texas batter down 0-2, or even 1-2, congrats you have a huge advantage. I know Texas’ MO is seeing a lot of pitches, but come on, that first pitch is meat so often. Just a little frustrated, but still love my Horns, and the trajectory they’re on. Hook’em!!!

    I’d still like to hear Sark’s answer. What I’d like to hear is simple, “ At a minimum the player, coach, or personnel will be suspended for an entire season. We will try to get them some help, but they are at a minimum suspended for the year”. There has to be severe consequences to have some teeth.

    On the defensive depth chart you had 13 positions listed. What are the 11 positions in a base defense? Not necessarily the players names, but the positions. I know it is different on 1st & 10 vs 3rd & 15. But the majority base. Thx.

    From the discussion on coffee and football this morning. I think basketball is the eliminator when it comes to figuring out the best athlete. During my playing days I played with guys that were incredible football players and baseball players, but looked like totally inept on the basketball court. You find me a guy that can play two sports well, as well as basketball, and you’re looking at one of your best athletes. On the Horns to me it sounds like Jonah Williams is that guy.

    You’re a pretty good pitcher when you’re on your “B” game, and still give up zero runs to a Top 5 team. Volantis has to be the best Sunday starter in the country.

    Back when Mack was hired shortly after they went on a barn storming tour of Texas cities. I was at the one in Houston, after his talk to crowd was meeting people. I got in line, got to him, “ Hey Coach Brown, Mike T}%^, nice to meet you, welcome to Texas. I am nothing special, as average Joe as you can get. Fast forward 8-10 years later, they go on another barnstorming tour. Again I go to the one in Houston. I get in line, get to Mack, and before I can say a word, he sticks his hand out and says “hey Mike, how ya doing, thanks for coming”. I kid you not, I was astonished. I think he has a photographic memory.

    Wow, saw film on him on Coffee and Football this morning. This kid is a monster!!! Talk about play through the whistle. This kid plays with a mean streak!! Hope we are pursuing him.

    Some season observations thus far: Our pitching quality & depth-WOW!! Love how this team hits to all fields. Carson Tinney is taking a beating behind the plate with foul tips!! Pack is a stud!!! We’ve got a bunch of DE’s and TE’s on our pitching staff.

    Jonah is taking too many good pitches early in his at bats, getting behind, and having to bat defensively

    …love it Gerry. To the guy accusing the guys of lieing or being dishonest about the OL recruiting and TP, really, are you serious? The guys are on air passing along facts that they have verified, and giving their opinions, THAT’S IT!!! What incentive do they have to lie or be dishonest about anything? But I’m with Gerry, Take the Train!!!

    I see him training as the swing tackle, but I would definitely consider cross training him at guard as well.

    Yeah it was a tough choice to call him a “non star”, but since he wasn’t drafted til 4th round, it tilted me towards non. But don’t get me wrong, a very good solid player. my honorable mention defensive player would probably be Jeff Leiding.

    I’ll start with mine. Offense: Ivan Williams, big strapping RB, but when I first started really liking him was when I heard a story about a hot shot recruit coming into town for a recruiting visit and started running his mouth. Ivan lined him out and told him to shut the f up, or he’d shut him up. Defense: Brian Robison, very good DE, but so athletic was used on FG defense because of his like 40” vertical. Blocked several in his career. And who can forget the hit on Rett Bomar, fumble and Rod Wright rumbling for about 70 yard TD in RRR.
