  1. Welp… here we go. Texas has to win three of last four to guarantee an NCAA Tournament bid at 8-10 in SEC play. The same goes for Arkansas. The game … Texas (16-11, 5-9) at Arkansas (16-11, 5-9) Where: Bud Walton Arena (Fayetteville, Ar.) When: 8 p.m. central TV: ESPN2
  2. Let me see what I can do on that ... give me a week or so

  5. This will not come down to a Texas NIL deal … it will be a part of it, but a small part She’s got real opportunities outside of Texas One Fund that will be much more lucrative
  6. The Nike vs Adidas decision has always been the hurdle for TT. She’s always been a Nike kid We shall see
  7. I don't see another year - as of today
  8. The Moody is already selling out ... in terms of tickets sold. Some empty seats affect concession sales, but not enough to off set a 16-18 mill all in in that type scenario They would have to jack up ticket and concession prices quite a bit to keep hoops in the black. I'm an interested observer
  9. The other thing to consider if Texas goes the route of 16-18 mill a year all in... 1. Texas currently makes money on hoops 2. Texas would very likely be in the red in hoops ... unless they jack up ticket and concession prices.
  10. 100% And Florida is a better hoops job, if we're being honest.
  11. As someone else pointed out ... I just said Texas has never made that level of investment in hoops. Until they do, I'm in prove it mode. If Texas is willing to go all in at 16-18 mill a year in hoops ... the pool of coaches goes to another level 16-18 mill a year broken down for me: 7-8 for HC 3-4 salary pool for assistants, probable GM, S&C, etc... 5-6 NIL guarantee as part of deal If Texas tries to go that big, it's a mercenary hire that will have all the leverage on Texas in the negotiations.
  12. Will Wade is working to get any high-major job he can right now. I do not think Texas will be an option for him.
  13. Yep. And now have a guy that eventually will get the 6th Final Four ... who knows maybe this year. If they keep him 7-8 more years, they may get a couple of FF's out of him.
  14. Lon Kruger got Florida going (FF in 1994). He didn't have sustained success, but he showed what it could become. Then UF made a young unicorn hire and won the 2 NC's and played in 3 NC games. So they have been to 5 Final Four's since 1994.
  15. I'll be very surprised if Will Wade is the choice.
  16. And he’s at a better job too … which will pay big to keep him
  17. Until they do it … they never have before in hoops When Beard was hired … his salary, assistant pool, NIL (which has escalated since then) was likely around 10 mill a year all in … he wanted the job badly. This next hire will be a mercenary type hire if it’s one of those very big names. They would force Texas’ hand in a way it never had been before IMO It would take 16-18 mill a year all in now to get one of those guys like Oates, Pearl, etc… I would love to see the commitment, but it’s never happened before to that level
  18. Oates makes 5 and will make 7 long term is he stays. Has a 10+ mill buyout Thats what I’m getting at … Texas would have to make a guy like that (Oates, Pearl, etc) a 7-8 mill a year coach plus a large salary pool, 5-6 mill a year NIL commitment etc… Texas has never gone to that level in hoops They would have to make a massive investment in hoops to pull that level coach
  19. I agree Texas can do it … but the brass will have to make a level of financial commitment they never have in hoops With salary escalation… it will take 6.5-7 mill a year, larger salary pool than ever at Texas, larger NIL commitment in men’s hoops, plus the coach buyout, etc… Plus the RT and staff buyout Thats a level of financial commitment Texas has never gone to in hoops
  20. My current college coaching list … at 4.5-5 mill a year salary and 4 mill NIL commitment TJ Otzelberger Brad Brownell Mick Cronin - don’t love the style, but results are there Doug McDermott - tremendous offensive coach Sean Miller ***Guys like: Tommy Lloyd Todd Golden Pat Kelsey Are at better jobs and will all be making 5-6 mill a year in short order with solid NIL backing Grant McCaslin (Tremendous coach) will go to Baylor if Scott Drew is the pick at Indiana
  21. You think a coach would turn down 6-7 mill a year with a 5-6 mill NIL commitment, one of the nations top arenas in one of the two future power conferences because Texas fired Chris Beard for hitting a woman? The coaching community knows Rick Barnes stopped recruiting with the same vigor at the end of his time in Austin.
  22. Texas can get someone of that caliber … money and financial commitment to program talks a lot Texas would just have to come over the top of whatever the school the coach is currently at with a huge financial commitment But Texas has never made that level of commitment in hoops
  23. I actually really like the idea of Royal Ivey … he would just have to have the correct staff around him with zero college recruiting experience. But NBA offensive mind, guys would play hard for him and the job would mean everything to him. But it would require thinking outside the box. The Rockets brass believes he’s likely an NBA head coach somewhere in two years. If he’s on the track … I would likely go that route if I were Ivey.
  24. If Texas is going to pay in the 4.5-5 mill range with a 4 mill NIL range budget Texas will still have a quality list of candidates But not the dream hot board list
