Hoping you have Christian Jones a little undervalued, would love to see his name called in the 3rd.

OTF Premium Texas April 13 visit weekend thread
t.newman replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Hope you're not just playing with my emotions here Gerry, but after watching this young man's HUDL I am all in! For those that love dominating DL play, watch his film. Really hope he gets on campus and has a great visit... IMO he's a lot like Murphy only a little bigger and quicker. And he seems to play with an edge. (felt sorry for the OLinemen trying to block him) -
Done, this may be the first time l'm an OG at anything... Thanks for working out the glitches.

As soon as you get it switched, I'm in. Bobby. Gerry, CJ, Rod, Coach... a bargain to get the insight you gentlemen provide.

Team Notes from Scrimmage No. 1 | (UPDATED: 2:47 p.m.)

So what you're saying is our D-Line could use another zero-tech... or two. And that our offensive line will be dominating!! -
April 6 Weekend Big Visit Thread

Something about seeing so many large, scary-looking linemen makes me feel warm inside. The key to winning championships is in the trenches! (and maybe QB) -
2024 Longhorn Mock Draft 2.0 | 20 Days Away
t.newman replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Interesting read, I tend to agree with you on all counts. (Sorry if that lowers your confidence) Especially in hoping X goes to the Chiefs, Brooks goes to the Cowboys, Sweat to the Ravens, and Jones going in the 3rd rd. This would all be great for Texas. Also share in your frustration about JWhitt, he will go down as one of my all-time favorites, but he just can't catch a break. Really hope he finds a team that will utilize him and let him ball out! -
Top DL target visiting April 6 (Monday 7:33 a.m. CST)
t.newman replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
This DL class has a chance to be very special; Brown, Sharma, Williams... all very large, very athletic big men that like to play in the opponent's backfield! Coach Baker seems to be earning his money. -
The juice on Josiah Sharma (Sunday 5:20 p.m. CST)
t.newman replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Learned two things watching his HUDL- 1. Sharma is a large man with great quickness and power. 2. The state of California needs better OL coaches, looked like those kids were made out of paper the way Sharma tore through them! -
Whether it's Lacey, Russell, or both- It will be a win for Texas. QB recruiting is at the bottom of my worries with Sark. But I will admit, I like the idea of keeping that Duncanville pipeline flowing.

Curious as to why you didn't include Lamont Rogers, DJ Sanders, or Dilan Battle? Is it because this is a best/more likely class? Or do you consider the prospects you have included to be higher on the board than Rogers/Sanders/Battle? Or is it because all of the players you have listed already have OVs scheduled while the three I listed don't?

Scratching my head about JTS's performance today, not just the bench but his broad jump number is closer to Sanborn's than any other player tested. Based on the numbers you would think Jett Bush is a clearly superior athlete. Hopefully this works well for Bush and doesn't penalize JTS too much.

Observations from Day 1 of 2024 Spring Practice
t.newman replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I would bet there are many teams in the cfb world that would eagerly swap their starting 11 on offense, with our second team offense. The depth of talent is incredible on this team. -
If the answer isn't Mitchell, and if we strike out on DTs in the transfer portal, Blackshire becomes very important to our defense. Ford thrived when the beef up front kept him free to get the ball-carrier. Without someone occupying double-teams Gbenda/Blackwell/Lefau lack the mass to hold up at Mike LB. IMO

Sunday morning look at defensive line recruiting
t.newman replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Gerry, is it important to Brandon Brown to play in the SEC? It seems usc may be our biggest competition and I wonder if big 10 vs. SEC will be a factor? BTW... Even He rested on the 7th day... of course he didn't cover Longhorn recruiting, so there's that. -
Texas 2025 Best Class Scenario: March 5 edition
t.newman replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
The linebacker haul is not only exciting but seems very realistic. You add those young men to the group we will have returning next year, and you've got something special! Not only for defense but special teams would be scary for punt/kick-off returners. -
Update on DB recruiting (Thursday 12:58 p.m. CST)
t.newman replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Gerry, whatever happened to the Daryus Dixson and Chuck McDonald recruitments? Are we still communicating with either? Seems Sark's recruiting wizardry with Mater Dei doesn't extend to the defensive side of the ball?? (came across as a criticism and wasn't meant that way, I have complete confidence in our recruiting of DBs,,,) -
Saturday: What Will Texas Do Given New NIL Ruling?
t.newman replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I trust Sark and his emphasis on character/team culture to find the best players for the Team. Hopefully this means finding the right players and then being competitive with NIL, not being ultra-aggressive with trying to buy players for the team. It may be an antiquated view, but I still say it's hard to win a war with a mercenary army. That '22 class at aggie didn't prove to be the juggernaut they thought when they went on their spending spree. -
I see next season having 5 tests- 1. playing um at Ann Arbor 2. ou 3. georgia at home 4. aggie 5. playoffs (making playoffs and having some success) If we win 4/5 that's 80%, that's success for me. Bonus points if players are winning/being finalist for national awards- Quinn for Heisman, Banks for Outland, Bond for Biletnikoff, (would love to see Barron in consideration for Thorpe...)

11 Longhorns Invited to 2024 NFL Combine
t.newman replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Just one more data point that Texas is back where it belongs. We can all remember over the last 10+ years when we might have 1 or 2 players invited. This is a great list, really hope our players have a great showing!
