They'll always be climbing and we've already seen a bunch cross that threshold. I wouldn't be surprised if UT's average position coach (non-coordinator) salary hits $1mil within the next 5-10 years. But I still think young coaches on the rise will be seeking coordinator titles, even if that means taking a job for less money in order to continue climbing the ranks.

Maybe I'm naive, but I cannot imagine a situation where that would occur. If you have a chance of getting to the playoffs, you better believe you can play with anyone and instill that confidence in the locker room. Probably a different story if you have an injured player that you want to make sure is healthy for the playoffs, but other than that situation... as 'ole Herm said "you play to win the game!"

Ha, yup... I've been a member of any site he's been active on dating back to OB. Joined 24/7 the first month it was up and running. I've always liked IT though, I enjoy Eric & Paul's sense of humor and they've had a quality product for years now. Once Bobby joined IT, I cancelled OB & 24/7. Rod B is still putting out videos for OTF, not sure he's ever been active on the boards.

I was nervous opening this thread... not because I thought Quinn died, but in anticipation of the "you killed him" noise... Gotta say, as a member of IT for 10+ years, that's one tradition I hope doesn't carry over to this site. I know Bobby wasn't a part of the IT team for that long, but I'm guessing there will be a lot of overlapping users as folks migrate back and forth - especially as this site grows and Bobby adds to the team!

It's been 11 minutes. Is he in yet? 🤣 Joking aside, if he doesn't enroll by the 1/30 window, could he sit out spring and enroll in the summer? Or does he need to take spring classes to maintain eligibility? Is he able to maintain his scholarship from Michigan to take spring classes if he doesn't participate in spring football at the school?

Personally, I think it's part of the fabric of college sports and requesting them to remove it is petty. I hope the directive didn't come from Terry, or anyone affiliated with Texas. All this is going to do is stoke the fire and every fan base moving forward will pile on... Am I in the minority here?

Since 2000... I'd also add the '04 Rose Bowl - felt similar to the Bama game IMO, signaling that we were "over the hump" and great things were on the horizon.

It'll be interesting to see how it shakes out. I'd be curious to see the # of portal players during the 30-day window for the various schools and track how that plays out over the next year or two. I wonder if there would be any noticeable differences between schools where coaches were fired, retired, left for a better gig... as well as the differences if they hired from within (Michigan) or brought in a new guy. I'm too lazy to track it myself, but if one the mods is up to the challenge...!? If promoting from within / having a succession plan proves to make a noticeable difference in roster retention, I wonder if that would influence the strategy for AD's moving forward. My assumption is finding the right guy is more important than keeping a few extra players, but if a team has a full cupboard and has a capable guy on staff...? For instance, if Washington loses a bunch of folks, would promoting Grubb been a better option? If Saban knew he was going to retire in a couple years (I don't think he did, but for s&g's), would they have tried to keep Sark and give him $3.5mil as an unofficial HIW?

Puka, CJ, and LaPorta are all deserving. Puka deserves it, but guessing QB bias will send it to CJ.

Watched a couple of his pressers while at WKU - dude has a great personality. High energy, positive attitude... reminds me a bit of Choice. Hopefully he'll be just as dynamic of a recruiter! @Bobby Burton @Blake Munroe @Bob Shipley @Rod Babers - any of y'all have ties to Brandon Jones or deshon Elliott to get the skinny on him as a man/coach over the past year with the dolphins?

@Bobby Burton would John Scott Jr be an option? He's been primarily a college coach, but now has a year of experience in the NFL under his belt. Tried to dig up some info on his recruiting chops, but haven't seen anything too positive. Looks like he struggled at first but landed done high profile guys towards the end. Perhaps now with the NFL on his resume, and the possibility of recruiting for Texas' brand, he could become more dynamic on the trail. I watched a couple of his pressers, seems well-spoken, but doesn't speak with passion/intensity (at least in front of the camera, could be completely different in other settings). Curious as to whether you've heard anything about him.

The Dolphins were fun to watch this year. Mike McDaniel & co has done a nice job collecting speed throughout that roster, specifically on offense. And, more importantly, effectively utilizing that speed to create an abundance of explosive plays. I think they were 2nd only to the 49ers in creating explosive plays through the air and led the league in explosives on the ground. Re: X... I agree that he won't slip past round 2, unless he completely underwhelms on his 40 and agility drills.

Good stuff, CJ... Are you able to see what Ryan Watts' % was when he was healthy? And specifically in the tighter games? I'm guessing the percentages are slightly skewed since Washington played a TON of close games, whereas Oregon had a bunch of blowouts. We had a few blowouts and I'm guessing Watts would've been our highest % if he had been healthier.

After his freshman year, I thought he'd develop into a bonafide 1st rounder, thinking he could develop into a Tyreek Hill-esque player. But I don't think X really developed the physicality needed to be drafted 1st round. Don't get me wrong, with the ball in his hands, he can get YAC with physicality. But I'm not sure he's physical enough catching the ball and using his body to box out DB's. After watching the Dolphins a bunch this year, Tyreek impressed me with this physicality. He makes a ton of contested catches and runs a bunch of crossing routes, in addition to the bubble screens and deep posts/corners. Not trying to say X needs to be Tyreek to be drafted round 1, just saying I feel like there's a chance the lack of production across the middle of the field and lack of contested catches might get him dinged in the eyes of scouts.

At first glance I thought those numbers were the seconds between snaps, but obviously not considering it's longer than the play clock, ha! Guessing it's (ranking with Texas and OU).(ranking without Texas & OU)... So 72nd with Texas/OU and 78th without? Just making sure I'm reading it correctly!

Where'd you hear/see him mention Clint Hurtt? Assuming that's who you're referring to...
