  1. That doesn't seem to matter in this draft, Jeff. It's truly mindboggling to watch this unfold.
  2. I agree with Gerry that high school recruiting is still the lifeblood of consistent college football programs, but just can't take silly recruiting drama seriously.
  3. I don't think so. Did Bailey have twice the production of Simmons? That and you must consider the effect of possible chemistry problems caused by money.
  4. Based on Schloss's comments about Cozart last week, I'm guessing he's still trying to stretch Cozart to get him ready for postseason, and he also thinks he can use him twice in a weekend regardless.
  5. This is true, but there are just outright bad evaluations of talent. Taking the likes of Golday and Trotter before Hill is crazy. Drafting Boerkhicher at 56 overall is pure malpractice. Those guys could have easily been drafted in third and fourth round.
  6. Many of these picks make you think that more than half of NFL teams draft with their eyes closed.
  7. I'm not saying get rid of Vic. I'm suggesting that he should adjust. Two Final Fours are great. That semi-final against UCLA was one of the worst games I've ever seen.
  8. Of course we understand that. It doesn't matter if it's only a topic for WCBB. That's the reality.
  9. She said "part" of it was family. The obvious key was she just didn't like playing for Vic. You can coach hard all day long, but these kids aren't going to understand that.
  10. They expect to have fun. Vic needs to think about his rock-em, sock-em style and adjust to new realities.
  11. I know most don't think this way, but I factor in NFL career and potential in Arch's case.
  12. I'd like other choices, but I'll take 4.
  13. Given that WCBB loses money, how can teams be stupid enough to pay 500k for a player? Who makes these decisions?
  14. I'll add that Freeman and Punch will be much better than Haugh this coming year. The media latches on to guys and refuses to admit the truth that actually plays out on the floor. Man for man, Texas is more talented than Florida. Johnson>Boogie, Goosby>Aberdeen, Freeman>Haugh, Punch>Condon, Matas>Chenyilu. That's five for five. We'll see if they can develop the chemistry to be a better team.
  15. I first thought that when watching Swain against Florida and Haugh. I didn't want to admit it because it seemed crazy given that Pippen is one of the most underrated players ever. But facts be facts. Swain is quicker and handles, passes and shoots better than Pippen; he's just not as powerful finishing and defending, which are big components obviously.
  16. You got that right, Gerry. Yaxel is already 23 and maxed out. He doesn't have the quickness or offensive skill to make it big in the NBA. I'd described Swain as a Scottie Pippin with more offensive skill, but not as much strength and power defensively.
  17. I hear you, but the scouting reports now say he was the best 1v1 player in CBB. It's based on his efficiency numbers when he touched the ball offensively. I didn't make that up.
  18. Mark it down boys. Swain will be a better NBA player than Wagler, Brown, Flemings, Yaxel, Burries, Philon, etc.
  19. There's no way Swain isn't drafted. He's now being mocked 13-17. He's risen more than any player the last few weeks because NBA scouts stopped listening to talking heads and actually watched his tape against guys like Haugh, Dybantsa, Amari Allen, etc. What they found is that he was the best one-on-one player in CBB (yes, more efficient than Dybantsa and Peterson), and he has the best all around floor game of any of those guys.
  20. The good news here is that men's basketball should regain the spotlight in Austin next season.
  21. Greatest basketball players ever: Kareem LeBron Jordan Magic Kobe
  22. Yes, Phil Jackson stated that Kobe Bryant worked harder and was more obsessive in his training than Michael Jordan.
  23. In May 2001, Kobe Bryant was the youngest player ever to be the best basketball player in the world. While Allen Iverson won the 2000-01 NBA MVP award that month (announced May 15), Kobe's performance during the 2001 playoffs was considered by many, including Shaq himself, to be at a "best in the world" level.
  24. As I've said before, you can't beat real talent with gimmicks. If Bucky doesn't cut his crap, he'll be gone in a couple of years.
