GULF SHORES, Ala. – No. 7 Texas Beach Volleyball earned its first-ever spot at the NCAA Championships as the No. 7 seed and will face No. 10 California at Gulf Place in Gulf Shores, Ala., on Friday, May 2 at 1 p.m. Central (ESPN2-TV). Should Texas win its first match, the Longhorns would advance to the quarterfinals and play either No. 2 TCU or No. 15 Georgia State on May 3. Texas and Cal have a 1-1 record this season with both matches going to five sets. The Bears took the last meeting, 3-2, on March 21 in Austin. It was one of just two losses the Longhorns had at home this season. The Longhorns are also one of two teams (Boise State) making their first appearance in the 16-team NCAA Tournament next weekend. Noa Sonneville and Macey Butler, Karin Zolnercikova and Maddison Parmelly and Emma Grace Robertson and Katie Hashman all claimed conference accolades, while the last two were named Pair of the Tournament. The 2024-25 season marks the first NCAA eligible season for Texas and head Coach Stein Metzger. Metzger's team boasts a 27-9 record in just its second sanctioned season as a team.
