AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 5/4 University of Texas women's basketball team earned a No. 1 seed and will host the first and second round of the 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament at Moody Center next week. The Longhorns will take on No. 16 seed Drexel in their first round game on Friday, March 22. The other teams coming to Austin will be No. 8 seed Alabama and No. 9 seed Florida State. Times for the games will be forthcoming. Texas will make their 36th appearance in the NCAA tournament, which is the fourth most among all NCAA DI teams. The last time Texas was a No. 1 seed was 2004. The Longhorns are 30-4 on the season and have won 12 of their last 13 games. Texas has a 15-2 record at Moody Center this season. Texas freshman Madison Booker became the first player in Big 12 women's basketball history to earn the Player of the Year award.
