Fair points, but NIL and the 5‑for‑5 rule don’t really explain a non‑injury absence. Guys don’t miss practice because they’re thinking about forfeiting a year -- they miss for team, personal, academic, or discipline reasons. Until he’s actually out there, it’s still a ‘let’s see what this actually is’ situation.

He'll be on the team this season. With the new 5 years to play 5 rule, he'd lose a whole year of pay. He's not passing up up whatever NIL he's receiving to sit out. And he's too important to the depth for the coaches to let him walk

Jumping to conclusions about him quitting and why when we don’t know the story at all. He has been a good kid and teammate until this blew up today so I’ll err on the side of the young man until proven differently.

I’d think success regarding points of emphasis matters most. Of course, we’re limited on that knowledge because it may be player specific. The defense was missing two of its biggest potential playmakers. No material injuries still may be the biggest goal.

I we can do now is see if it get works out. But it seems unlikely now. Hopefully there is resolution soon. Can't let this infect the locker room.
