The nation is asking “why didn’t Ryan Day just let Texas score?” As a Texas fan, I’d reply with “why would he?” Sark’s teams have historically been unable to punch it in at the goal line in crucial moments. Look at 2023 OU and multiple times against Ohio State. Day wanted to send the message “we’ve always shown we are more physical than you and we’re gonna show it again here.” Sark and Co. had other plans… A lot of mental errors + fumblitis that need to be cleaned up, but this program took a step it hasn’t been able to do the last couple years: Out physical the top dogs. Hook em🤘

I dig deeper than makes sense on this stuff. They had a number of front 7 guys play more snaps than they ever have, in 100 degree heat no less. Pierce almost doubled his previous high. Jackson ran 68 plays. They do not seem to substitute as much as we do defensively. They are relying more on transfers than in the past. They lost a lot from defense last year, but it’s really a two year run of losing lots of guys, many except Downs, were homegrown too.

Yeah Arch hit that perfectly and Coleman might have stumbled. When those hit this year (Cam & Wingo), this team is gonna ROLL.

Yeah I have no idea why he would think they'd be better when they lost Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese who got drafted 7th and 5th overall.

Had a good game with a major play on that 4th & 9. Too many drops to be a top 3 player of the game for me.

The crazy part is you have people in the video's comments complaining and Texas fans having fun and enjoying the win. Like what... after all the smack Buckeye fans talked before and during most of the game, were we supposed to just say good game and move on?

He’s been great these two games so far

What on earth made them think they’d be better up front? They had the highest graded run defender at DT and two LBs top 30-ish. All gone. Pierce is smaller than both, maybe slower. The Wisconsin dude was an average player. Their best hope was holdovers, underachieving to this point, rising up. Nevermind Downs did support the run, and he’s gone too.

Gefridge was awesome as well.

Their defense was on the field for at least 20 more plays than they are used to playing and we just wore them out with conditioning and talent.

3 Stars vs. Ohio State *** Star No. 1 – Texas Offensive Line Take a bow, Texas OL and Kyle Flood. That was a magnificent showing up front from the big fellas, and a key reason why this comeback even had a chance. Texas allowed eight pressures on the evening – and one sack which falls into the fault of Manning – but it was the running game towards the back end of the game that won me over. When Texas needed tough yards, they got it. And that was not the case a year ago. Star No. 2 – CB Bo Mascoe Jeremiah Smith was lighting the city of Austin on fire in the first half. And even to begin the third quarter, Texas had no answer for the best wide receiver in the country. Enter Bo Mascoe! Four targets, zero receptions when Mascoe covered Smith on Saturday evening. That's as good as it gets. Star No. 3 – RB Hollywood Smothers The two touchdowns are well-deserved and definitely the highlights. Again, a lot of that goes to the favor of the offensive line who created those touchdown opportunities, but Smothers ran harder than any Texas running back I have seen since Jonathon Brooks. He was finding tough, gritty, nasty yards time and time again. Additionally, Smothers did his job in pass protection, and as a lead blocker for Raleek Brown when Texas got into the pony package. HM1 – LB Justin Cryer: Led the Longhorns in tackles with nine, including a pair behind the LOS. Oh, and Cryer led the team in pressures too! HM2 – CB Graceson Littleton: Littleton had a massive 1-on-1 rep win in the red area on Smith to force Ohio State to kick a field goal. Littleton allowed just 16 yards in the pass game on four targets. Plus, had the INT at the end of the game for the cherry on top.
