The one guy that comes to mind when talking dark days of coaching is Britt Hager, yes prior to 1992, but nonetheless, he jumps out instantly in my brain.

What's funny, if they hadn't let in James Madison and Tulane last year into the playoffs and instead put Notre Dame and Texas in, I'm pretty sure we would've played Oregon @ their place lol. Joe Z would've been quacking his ass off.

My problem is that the NCAA could've done a better job of getting out in front of this stuff before it became the focal point of college football. Instead like usual they sat on their hands and didn't do anything which caused the free for all we pretty much see today. I'm fine with kids getting paid, that doesn't bother me. Disregarding 2 sigma outliers, maybe 95% accurate.

When the pads start popping music to my ears will be that the oline was moving the dline off their spots. We all know the Texas defense is going to be a problem, but hopefully that oline will come away with some Ws in camp via the interior run game. Icing on the cake would be Texas getting to game 1 without any serious injjury.

Any notes on how practice went with full pads???

I get it. And that was just a tad before my time lol. I was 7 his final year. But he’s also automatically disqualified from the list, as he didn’t play in the modern era. I guess technically 1992, but 75% of his career was pre-poll.

Blake, you have no idea how shitty the QB landscape was in the state of Texas at that time. High school and college. And it was lack of physical talent.

I thought it was about Joey Maguire too, but it turns out it is about what Maguire is not. He is not the coach of a football blue blood that sells out all its games at home and away. He’s a coach of a university that sells out its principles. At least Tech has not yet stooped as low as Baylor

I get what you’re saying, but to play devils advocate… 21-19 during his four years 37 TD. 46 INT. Only had one season where he threw more TD than INT (16:13). That doesn’t all fall on him by any means, but as you said… results. Not even close to sniffing this list, imo.
