  1. Past hour
  2. Fair enough. Apologies for my defensiveness. I completely agree with you that the coaches should ideally allocate substantial resources to DT recruiting and that it should be split between elite prospects and more developmental players with elite traits or high upside. Using the latter criteria, I would say that Sweat and Murphy had elite traits, even if the industry did not consider them elite prospects. Byron Murphy had elite strength, quickness, and productivity. He broke Von Miller’s high school sack record at Desoto. That’s elite disruption at a high level of competition. The staff should look for guys with those sorts of traits, even if they’re not 5-stars.
  3. Just a quick idea that would need some further workshopping. Texas is a global brand with fans all over the country and world, many of which have no physical tie to the University. it would be interesting to highlight some of the OTF OGs and their stories of how they became fans of the longhorns. After being around the OTf community and seeing all the people and where they’re from, I’m curious on how we found our way to this site and how we became die hard fans. It would bring a sort of customer appreciation aspect to the site from time to time which I bet @Bobby Burton would be on board with. Just an idea. Content has always been great here.
  4. "Mark In Austin" is my legal eagle on this site (he was in UT law school when I was in UT grad school, though we didn't know each other). Here are some arguments a good lawyer would make to try to get this down to a partial suspension. What do you think Mark? This will be heard initially in Lubbock and if you think that doesn't mean a more favorable court you haven't paid attention to what took place in places like Tennessee and Mississippi the past few years. 1) The "bet on your team and you are banned forever" rule came into effect in 2023 (I think), but the gambling we admit to occurred in 2022 (I think I got the years right). 2) The bets were minuscule, just a few bucks (I think I read $2 to $50?) so what's the big deal? And he always bet on Indiana to win, so he lost most of the time. 3) Mr. Sorsby was not even playing, he was taking a redshirt season, so his actions could not have had any possible effect on the outcome. This is not like a point shaving scandal. 4) He suffers from a "clinically diagnosed" gambling disorder, which is "a mental health condition." He is undergoing treatment for this mental health condition as we speak. 5) The NCAA profits from gambling sites even while penalizing student-athletes while issuing an ever-changing list of what's allowed. For example recently they OKed betting on pro sports like football, before changing their minds. 6) He stands to lose almost $6 million in NIL funds if he is not allowed to compete, causing him irreparable harm. 7) Sites that went into this matter in more depth than ESPN say Kessler will bring up something like the NCAA can't regulate the conduct of players like this since they are just students, not employees of the schools. This "employees" argument seems to be some third rail for the universities and they quiver in fear when a savvy attorney threatens to use it. This might be what causes the NCAA to look for an off-ramp and go for a lengthy suspension but not for the full year. Not saying he should get off, a life-time ban seems fair to me, but he has an excellent lawyer who has run circles around the NCAA and I would not be surprised if he gets it reduced to a partial suspension. What do you think Mark?
  5. Joey isn’t the one running the program; it’s Cody and he wants a return on his investment.
  6. The NCAA could not hold the CFP Committee to its obligation to consider Strength of Schedule as required in its charge to the Committee. It is a house of cards that serves as a cash flow conduit to its members. It will collapse as soon as the top tier teams understand how much more their football broadcast rights are worth than the remaining mid and bottom tier teams. I would guess that the B1G and SEC together would command 65% of the broadcast revenue over the combined remaining teams.
  7. Soccer had a no show and volleyball had a down year by their standards. I still don't know what the heck happened to track and field, but we've beaten that horse to death. Texas will be back on top soon enough. And Texas needs to put together a gymnastics program because that's the last thing those okies can hold onto. And they only really win because there's like 4 programs and all the talent from the state of Texas goes there as Texas doesn't have a program.
  8. A couple of fun national treasure cards came in today. Here’s my immaculate/national treasure collection so far
  9. Courts will not support illicit self interest over contractual obligation.
  10. We’re talking opinions here so I was genuinely asking your opinion. They weren’t 5 stars but clearly the final results were that of a 5 star. I didn’t even specify whether we’re talking as a recruit or finished product in my question. I personally don’t care that Murphy or Poona Ford are on the shorter side therefore their grade is reduced. I believe in a roster that mixes star power and guys that fill a role. Certainly DT is what I would consider a premium position with limited resources. My preference is to hit high school hard with a mix of stars and guys the staff think are bigger upsides than their current profile projects. I don’t know where Alex January fits, he chose the Horns, plays hard and well so I’m good with that. Hope Terry does too.
  11. My favorite is CJ at Aggie land swearing
  12. Today
  13. Blooper reel is in the works, too!
  14. Are current staff and players off limit for interviews or appearances? I realize once the season starts it’s probably a no go. I think OTF does a great job just a suggestion.
  15. Only if George Shea does the introductions. His annual July 4th Nathans eating contestant intros are usually gold. If you have about 5 minutes...this video from the 2014 Nathans contest intro is one of his best.
  16. A good solution for the time being could be using a whiteboard like this https://www.playdesignerpro.com/tools/football-play-designer until they figure out a way there allowed to do All-22 film.
  17. The coolest cards that I have gotten recently is a silver prizm Arch PSA 10. I also got a city limits Quinn /10 that received a Gem mint 10 grade from a cheaper grading company.
  18. This. Other channels do it. Heck even that other Texas message board that shall not be named. Looks like there’s a way! Can’t be the best Texas football channel without showing Texas football!
  19. This would likely be his signature recruiting win if they pulled this off, at least as a "primary" recruiter. Certainly helped out with others.
  20. I would love to see some behind the scenes content from OTF. Bloopers on videos you've recorded, meeting footage of Bobby yelling at Gerry for eating corn dogs, CJ trying to convince Bobby to have an OU section on the board so he can cover Mateer.
  21. I really hope that is not true.
  22. The OG @Longhornfrenzy is an awesome Twitter follow just for this!
  23. @Longhornfrenzy helped out with this one time but having an ongoing thread of other school message board meltdowns / world endings is pretty entertaining as I am myself a grief eater
  24. It is interesting to me that Tech's road opponents have not launched competing suits, i.e. to determine Sorsby's eligibility to play in their states. This would include Oregon (playing Oregon State), Colorado, Ohio (playing Cincy), and Oklahoma (playing OSU). None of those is in the Fifth Circuit. You could say the same thing about how teams/schools reacted (or didn't react) to the Chambliss and Pavia cases.
