  1. Past hour
  2. Doubt it would work in Austin to @Jeff Howe’s points. Houston makes the most sense. We’ve had minor league hockey in Austin with ice bats a d now stars. People like it but I doubt it would catch in this market.
  3. even with 1 arm, he is better than Mel Kiper and the other dude.
  4. For me, Tausch, Blalock and Dan Neil are among those under consideration for the fourth spot. The other three, IMO, are no-brainers.
  5. Those are all very good picks for #76. I’ve been fortunate enough to have seen all of them play.
  6. Just absolutely terrible news. I'm just glad he survived, the image from the accident was horrific.
  7. From an Austin perspective, since there's overlap between the college basketball season and the NHL regular season, I'd look at what's happened in Oklahoma City and how it could impact attendance. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State fans both agree that the presence and rise of the Thunder have played a big role in the lack of interest in people going to basketball games in Norman and Stillwater. Yes, the product has to be up to par, but there are only so many dollars to get stretched so far in metro areas before people have to make decisions how to spend their time and money.
  8. intriguing option.
  9. Have to find room for Terry Tausch too.
  10. Matt is a great guy. I was heartbroken when I saw his post yesterday.
  11. There is a very large, and quickly growing hockey community in Austin. The TX Stars get great support and the youth hockey program in cedar park, where my son plays, has really good numbers. As a former player I can say the quality of play isn’t quite where DFW is yet, but there’s been a longer history of good hockey there. And from a growing the game perspective, where the NHL goes, the increase in minor hockey numbers and coaching taken follows. Houston makes sense because the Toyota center is already there, and Houston is home to the largest number of Canadian expats in the US. But I would love to see NHL hockey here in Austin.
  12. For an Austin franchise to work, I think you'd have to put the arena between Austin and San Antonio on I-35 so that you could draw from both metro areas. I don't believe UT/Oak View Group/Live Nation will allow a downtown venue to be built that would compete with Moody Center for concerts/live events.
  13. Miller loses left arm in car accident
  14. True. I was also thinking that James was being recruited at Safety instead of CB/nickel for some reason.
  15. Ed Cooley was 2-0 against Texas at Providence, so I'm hoping for better results.
  16. Houston would be a natural rival to the Stars. Hockey in Austin doesn’t feel right but could be a hit
  17. Texas is possibly getting two CB commits before the end of the upcoming weekend.
  18. He's on the Texas offensive line Mount Rushmore. For me, it's: — Jerry Sizemore — Bob McKay — Justin Blalock — Kelvin Banks Jr.
  19. That would be interesting. Seems they normally stay on a top kid even though they flip somewhere else. That is unless something negative is said/done.
  20. Gotta give a shout out to Jerry Sizemore. One of the best OL Texas has had.
  21. I doubt it. Hank said they have him slotted a tier down for NIL. LSU offered more. Unless he wants to take less to be at Texas there is nothing to see here. I think Texas is moving on here.
  22. Likely very pricey.
  23. I had just asked Blake about her. This is a great hire. She can work with hitters and the catchers.
