OTF Premium Note on Trent Hendrick | Sunday 10:37 a.m.
CJ Vogel posted a topic in On Texas Football Forum
Following the dismissal of Ty'Anthony Smith, the question about Texas being in the market for one of these new portal linebackers has popped up. Immediately, the one that comes to mind is reigning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year, LB Trent Hendrick, who was one of the players recently granted a TRO to return to college football. A decision is set to come this afternoon for Hendrick, and OTF has learned the Longhorns are not expected to be the pick. There was brief communication per a source, but nothing beyond that. Look for UCLA to bring in a new linebacker when the decision comes.- 1 reply

13 Days Until Kickoff: Who Was The Best No. 13?
Oldest Horn replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Bill Hamilton -
Had a bad day? He threatened the Texas football program with a tweet that has over 1.5 million views and for all intents and purposes likely ended his son’s career here before it even started. He did permanent damage.

13 Days Until Kickoff: Who Was The Best No. 13?

We’re 13 days away from kickoff against Texas State, so let’s take a look at some of the best to wear No. 13. Michael Dickson headlines this group. The 2017 Ray Guy Award winner was a unanimous All-American and turned punting into must-watch football during his time at Texas. His performance in the 2017 Texas Bowl remains one of the most dominant games you’ll ever see from a punter. Todd Dodge was a key quarterback for Texas in the early 1980s and helped lead the Longhorns during one of the program’s strongest stretches of that era. Ryan Palmer developed into a very productive defensive back, finishing his Texas career with 136 tackles, four interceptions and 24 pass breakups while earning second-team All-Big 12 honors. Les Koenning played wide receiver for the Longhorns before going on to a long career in college football coaching. And Jerrod Heard gave Texas fans a very memorable individual performance. His 527 yards of total offense against Cal in 2015 set a Texas single-game record at the time and he later made the transition from quarterback to wide receiver. Who gets your vote as the best Longhorn to wear No. 13?

No I will not lighten up on a 40 something year old man who whines on Twitter.

Stop panicking. This is not last year.

It’s crazy the panic. The Ty scenario is crazy to me. the guy wasn’t a starter and younger guys are stepping up all preseason —-we are told. He’s removed and then we say the defense was HUMMING in the scrimmage. Listen, I feel bad for the guy but he’s an adult and made choices that aren’t acceptable. if arch plays just as good as he did in the second half and wingo is sure handed we are the MOST feared team in the nation, we might’ve been at the end of last year with less depth and Anthony hill sitting out -
I’m a little surprised that his post is still up on X.

Jalen Brewster is on the move

Was the UIL about to take the stand against this kid - or do they save that for kids whose parents relocate for a job? -
Lighten up on Dad. He had a bad day with his emotions for his son that hopefully doesn't repeat itself, especially for his son's sake. He's heavily invested in his boy and is worrying too much about his future and being unable to control things for him. This is a moment to realize it's out of his hands now and up to his son to face the adversity, work even harder and eventually he will rise through it . Competition is always going to be there at any school and the pain being felt now is just in this season. Encourage him and be his best cheerleader, but let him face these things knowing he will rise above it in time and with hard earned character gained in the process.

Absolutely! Also, this could be a few years ago where you had to be near perfect and could not afford to even lose one game. This team has a real shot. They don't have to be perfect, they just have to be good enough to win all but two of their games. If we can't do that then we don't deserve it anyway. I like our chances. -
This! Forget all the speculation. I know it is natural to be curious, but these situations don't always have easy or obvious answers. And they are not always somebody's "fault." At the end of the day, "why" doesn't matter. Wish the best for the young man and hope he gets it figured out for his own sake. And let's talk about where the Horns go from here.

I’m not saying we are a lock for the natty. I’m just saying the panic this weekend between Ty and sarks comments on arch are wild. -

Since 1960, we have 4 national championships. The only teams that have more are Nebraska 5, Miami 5, USC 7, and Alabama 13. A lot of other teams' fanbases probably feel they have been burned too many times as well. -

One national championship in the last 56 years. I have to see it to believe it. I understand your perspective, but I’ve been burned too many times… -

Last year Week 1 was Ohio State and Arch was still raw. This year is different. We’ve got a clearly better offensive line, a stronger running back room, and a deeper, more talented receiver group. We also get a softer Week 1 opponent to let things gel before Ohio State comes to DKR — a massive home-field advantage. The linebacker concerns are being overblown. Yes, depth could be tested at times, but that’s just college football. How many teams actually have two full lines of reliable LBs? Panic would be justified if we hadn’t landed Biles and Cryer. We did. Plus two freakish rookies. Meanwhile Bo Mascoe and Phillips are playing so consistently well that they barely even get mentioned. People need to relax and be patient. Sark cutting a player shows real strength in the locker room and confidence in the depth. Admit it — weak locker rooms will tolerate much worse situations—-NIL times you can’t turn off donors with detrimental conduct SECURE THE BAGS! And one more thing: no QB scrambles in the scrimmage. That’s a defensive coordinator’s wet dream in real games. Nobody wants to have to account for Arch as a run threat.

Virginia RB seems like a POS

Punishment should fit the crime. Perhaps he could go play in the pool with sharks or get put into a cage with angry dogs. Maybe go to Alaska and camp in bear country with steak hanging off him?
