Offense has been terrible, but what about the defense?
CJ Vogel replied to Matthew Toming's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I might be at 5% of the blame pointed at the defense. -
He is probably a miserable human being.

People love pointing the finger at Arch and Sark, and rightfully so, but what about the defense's inability to get off the field Saturday? I do understand that the offense's inability to maintain drives puts strain on the defense, but that side of the ball was not good enough vs. a bruised Florida offense w/ a QB making his first collegiate start. Florida was able to stay balanced and convert on 3rd down, most of which felt like manageable yardages. The secondary gave up countless short yardage competitions, which was a big knock on PK's scheme. I am worried that without Simmons the defense is taking a massive step back - who steps up in his absence? There is no question that the offense needs to be better, but this is a collective failure and needs to be treated as such.

Why is he so upset with CJ?

@Bobby Burton Can we ban HarveyCMD? I get people are upset but I for one don't wanna put up with attacks on the staff like he has been doing.

What to expect from KJ Lacey
NothinButDaHorns34 replied to jcash02's topic in On Texas Football Forum
It’s going to shock A LOT of y'all when sark trouts arch back out there, to look shellshocked and KJ see’s zero time playing. I think all of this KJ getting more first team rep’s is all smoke and mirrors by sark. Sark will have completely failed the manning family, himself and us if he has to bench another “generational” five star QB like he did quinn. -

Cool! BTW, pretty much anything is possible.

You’re pretty spot on. Both were #1 or top ranked QB’s and had high expectations only to not meet them. arch had a hell of a stretch at the end of last year, so I feel like he is better in that aspect compared to Gilbert lighting up Bama in the championship game only to be disappointing from there I just never thought Arch would regress like he has. Hopefully this pushes him to knuckle up and fight for that QB1 spot

The Strong and Herman years were mostly bad with a few bright spots here and there. Sark has built a roster that is as good as any in the nation. Do they play that way? Generally not, at least over the bulk of this season. However, Sark has had UT ranked #1 on several occasions (fairly or not). We have won playoff games and reached the semis twice. Yes we do have lots of problems? Yes. Is Sark one of those problems? Yes. Is he a great Head Coach? IMO, the jury is still out on that. Is this just a (lengthy) rough patch that will be worked out? I sure hope so.

https://youtu.be/kpu0YZUNvng?is=L3D5kVaaXsuEsgOB https://www.instagram.com/reel/Deroo6bv3hS/?xtok=NGdlYjVhaHRkeW8y Basic skillset that KJ will provide that can add a different element to this offense. 1. Pocket mobility, creating throwing windows, extending plays. Based on what we've seen, KJ seems to have the ability to threaten all aspects of the field based on his ability to create new throwing windows for himself. Arch has regressed into being a statuesque QB, planted as an easy stationary target. He doesn't give himself the opportunity to create any new throwing windows by being so rooted in 1 spot. 2. Ball placement, touch and "catchable" passes Arch has turned into a David Carr / Garrett Gilbert like QB who fires every pass as a rocket no matter the target, distance or situation. We've seen dirt balls at WR feet, balls off guy's faces, sailing over their heads. KJ has shown effective touch on both short passes and back shoulder deep balls (think the throw to Berkhalter) These types of throws will allow Cam Coleman to be a threat in the offense. Jermaine Bishop to catch & run on drag routes, over the middle quick RPO slants etc. Unlocking neglected parts of Sark's offense RB screens will be back in play again, maybe even the renowned "Sark screen" 3. Lastly, is the timing of the actual plays. KJ has exhibited the ability to distribute the ball quickly as a point guard vs holding the ball. Arch isn't doing his beleaguered O-line any favors by how he's playing behind them. We might not get as many 40 yard bombs down field, but I'd rather prefer an efficient move the chains Colt McCoy style operation that helps our defense recover and regroup. / random thoughts

Sark needs this kind of Augie intensity

When Augie got here, he was already a legend. Sark wasn't. Big difference. - Today

Sark’s QB rep built on Carroll and Saban’s rosters?
Rockin TL replied to Steamboat Willie's topic in On Texas Football Forum
A question i have because ive seen it thrown around a lot about Sark being a great head coach, what evidence is there of that? -

For sure. Maybe this will be the week the offense looks like a varsity team. Otherwise, defense is gonna give up points again. Ole Miss has scored 30 in every game this season except against Florida where they scored 28. Meanwhile, we have only scored 30 points against Texas State and UTSA (30 exactly).
