I would add Currie to the list. There are just not enough truly elite DTs out there, so loading up on high-end IDL talent in high school recruiting feels more important than ever.

Props where it's due, Texas took aggy's women's tennis coach and they found a replacement who's brought them championships. Sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut.

I'm pretty sure any school, including Texas, would do the same thing if they were in Tech's position.

Also if Ole Miss didn't choke a massive 8 run lead with 3 outs to go; they likely win that regional as well.

Read my follow-up post. They clearly are a blue blood program based on overall resume, but at what point does their downward trajectory kick them out of the club? OU will be competitive going forward, but they are never going to be a dominant force in college football again unless something drastic changes like pooling revenues.

Absolutely right on Deshon Elliott! He was a menace and is often left out of the DBU conversations, or at least not recognized the way he should be given how impressive of a season he had. Great read Jeff.

The “one student athlete and one season” is misleading. This would set precedent which would have far reaching implications for future student athlete gambling.

I couldn't stress this any more Jeff. I am a firm believer as I've stated in other threads that investing in the premium positions in high school is the most efficient way to build a championship roster. Camara to me is worth the gamble to develop into a franchise LT. Same with KJ Green. I think he is well worth the money with us losing Colin if we don't have a chance to give DJ Jacobs the ranch.

I enjoyed working with Barton Simmons (now Vanderbilt's GM) at 247Sports. But man, when I had Brian Perroni go back in and change Elliott's ranking to a four-star after the Top247 was finalized, I was rightfully ripped a new one (and, FWIW, I told Perroni to blame me if he got any flak for changing the ranking).
