Texas Tech: The Faces of Desperation
Little Carmine replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
It’s honestly absurd they’re having this debate. Does a pyromaniac not go to jail (suffer the consequences) from arson or should that person be absolved because it’s “compulsive addictive” behavior? Do kleptomaniacs stay out of prison or not get in trouble because they’re addicted to stealing? What an absolute joke. Prosecute this jackass under any portion or stretch of the law that you can, ban him for life from everything. -

Texas Tech: The Faces of Desperation

I just cant believe that Tech did not do due diligence in doing a background check on Sorsby. Bobby, Gerry and Coach Shipley brought up good points, a win at all cost. I mean if Tech would be quiet they would be able to sit a the adult table. But, nope they think they have leverage. I wonder if you uncover more info, how bad is really as far as them winning at all cost. Two things in two years will hurt them Sorsby and signing OJO. All that money to the wind. -
His money is the right color. Bottom line.

Texas Tech: The Faces of Desperation

The sad truth is that if Tech had removed him from the team for this, supported his recovery efforts, and encouraged him to continue his education they would be a bright spot if college sports and have credibility to move into an even better position nationally as a program. They would also have (and still do but a lot messier now) a great argument to recoup their money from Cincinnati and IU for lack of oversight and potentially liability for failing to report gambling activity and protect a student athlete’s well being. I’m not a lawyer (obviously) but seems like a much better play than what they’re currently doing. -
Texas Tech: The Faces of Desperation

Just utterly unfathomable that a State institution in Texas is going out on a limb to defend someone who so blatantly, knowingly and heavily bet on his own team which throws everything he did on the field at IU when he played into question -

It’s not that I don’t agree with his politics - some things he says I do agree with, some I don’t. It is the mere fact that his account is pure politics - the complete opposite of OTF’s goal. I realize he is not posting it on the site, but the extremely close connection with OTF certainly creates an association between who Adam is and the site as a whole.

why do you care so much? he's a diehard Longhorn and a fan of this site and chooses to help Bobby fund. so, you don't agree with his politics. I agree there might a line where one can go too far but he criticizes both sides but I don't think he's crossed that line. he's more of a moderate than anything. moderates have no home sadly. extreme one way or the other. sucks for people in the middle. the game is hate right now - be nice when then era ends. don't take things so seriously. be kind and be a good neighbor.

I don’t think Sark was trying to make it about Tech. See his comments on “basket weaving” and Ole Miss. Sark is fighting for his university and his team and he is still sore from missing out on the CFP last year. Did Texas deserve to be in over teams who played much less staunch opponents? As a fan, I say yes. But judging based solely on record, no. So Sark is leaning in on highlighting the disparity in opponent and schedule, which is stark. He is making the case for Texas he was making last year. He is publicly posturing for acceptance of the narrative that it’s harder to win at Texas than other places. Is that fair? Who knows. But I think he’s sick of the “Texas is the bogeyman” stigma and he’s coming out “guns blazing” (sorry Tech). He’s right and the system is flawed and unsustainable. Until more applicable metrics are applied, and a broader range of them, schools with a difficult conference and OOC schedules will be negatively impacted.

I think this evaluation is low and once Muschamp utilizes Giffridge/Kanu/Sharma, Justus Terry, Lance Jackson others at DT /3 tech/DE and you put Simmons dedicated rush—we will be dominant. Getting healthy Vasek and Zina we will be scary. Lance Jackson showed up as a true freshman and made plays last year. I’m more excited about our defense next year than our offense.

Both sides are complete trash! If you latch yourself onto siding with one or the other you’re only fooling yourself.
-
Sark’s point wasn’t that TT sucks but their schedule does and it makes it difficult to compare a SEC record to a Big12 record because of the disparity in difficulty. Don’t take it out of context. He never said Texas would beat Tech just that Texas would have had a better record playing Techs schedule

Texas Tech: The Faces of Desperation

So let me get this straight - the guy ran a four‑year, $90k offshore‑account‑carousel of bets, used friends and family as cutouts, wagered on his own team, kept gambling through two transfers, and was still firing off bets after arriving at Tech… and we’re supposed to pretend this was just ‘a couple bad decisions’? -
I say this as a lib. OTF should keep him around. There's been enough from the snowflakes on all sides of the political spectrum.

"our 2s and 3s can't beat them" isn't punching down? If Ohio State ever came out and talked shxt about Toledo, Bama about UAB, or if Coca Cola ever talked shxt about RC Cola, you wouldn't think that's cheap? All this did was elevating Tech to our level. Why else would we even acknowledge them?
