  1. Past hour
  2. 2021. The defense had some struggles, but that was a very stout conference schedule. Repeatedly ignored by message board posters. Every board I’ve been on. Rinse and repeat. I also repeatedly read discussions on officiating errors. Since 2021, the poor officiating pales in comparison to the examples set from the Big 12 that year. So, yes, the 2021 defense faded in 2nd halves, the offense struggled to make the plays too. Sark, while deserving considerable credit for many aspects as to where the program stands today, in terms of wins and losses in his 5 years has underachieved more than he’s overachieved. Now, this move. He wanted Muschamp from the get go so it’s understandable he’d bring him on board when ready. There are legitimate questions about what has Muschamp done lately. Per Georgia’s website, he was Co-DC in 2022-23. Also per their website, Schumann was co -Dc in 2019 and promoted to DC with play calling duties in 2022. Here’s a little reminder that Kyle Flood is listed as our OC. I doubt many here would be comfortable with him calling plays for Texas. The trajectory shows Schumann is their primary DC with Muschamp in potentially an advisory role. There is legitimacy to questions about what Muschamp has in the tank and how much he’s been engaged recently in spite of him being Co-Dc in 2022-23. I’ve yet to read any insight into what he did in this role but rather assumptions that it’s significant. And that those who question that are to take it as gospel. If Schumann was the defensive play caller, then that makes those questions legitimate. As to Muschamp, I like him. I also like Pk. That doesn’t mean that certain things didn’t frustrate me, but you’ll get that with every single coach. On its face, I don’t like this move. Not because of Muschamp so much but because of PK and all we’re left with is perception of how it went down.
  3. We need one portal proven receiver with speed. Our greatest needs are guards with an attitude, and linebackers.
  4. I think back to Sark's arrival and the one hire that felt like Sark kind of "settled" on was PK. I'm not saying Sark didn't go big game hunting (he did, he wanted Muschamp) but we wound up in the SEC with a coordinator who developed his system in the PAC 12 and initially had a hard time adjusting to the Big 12. Not that PK was a bad coordinator. He was solid. At times, he carried this team. We can't forget that. But............this is Muschamp. Muschamp is an SEC dude all the way. If you have elite defensive talent, you do NOT try to scheme your way to wins as if the talent is equal. You turn that talent loose and that's what Muschamp does. It's as if Sark said, "PK is good but we're not here to be good. We're here to be great." and he's made sweeping changes on offense. With that said, can Sark find it in himself to do that on offense? By all accounts, sweeping philosophical changes are coming as we attempt to build an SEC style bruising offense as well. The RB coaching hire and purging of the RBs on the roster show this to be true and, by all accounts, some guards are going be pursued in the portal. It's as if Sark has said, "I did this is at Bama before I arrived. Let's build that." I think Sark has taken a HARD look at this team, realized he has Texas money and CDC to back him, and is making every change necessary. I'm just a schmuck fan but I have such a good feeling about this. I can't help but think of a sign I saw one time. It was two buzzards sitting in a tree and one was saying, "Eff waiting.....let's go kill something." Hook Em
  5. Umm, no, you’re not considered stellar when you have huge leads melt away in the 4th due to calling prevents and soft zones that lead to easy completions and open up vulnerabilities leading to potential for coverage busts. You’re not considered stellar when you don’t do the things to keep your best players in position to make big plays. That has been discussed by the mods AD NAUSEAM here. Either you’re trolling or you’ve completely lost any “credibility” you thought you had in diagnosing football.
  6. Today
  7. Those two players...Bo Jackson and Jaden Baugh ... were the two best RBs I saw on TV this season. I'm sure there are others -- for example, I remember Berry's recruitment, but I didn't see him play this season. Time will tell. Hook 'Em!
  8. Would love if Bowens from Georgia went into the portal. Showed flashes of a big time RB. I’m sure he will stick with UGA though.
  9. I thought Gerry mentioned last year that Berry is related to Juluke. Maybe Wilson's departure makes him leave the boot but family brings him to Austin.
  10. CJ -- I was a student at Texas way back in the '70s and I had a GF who used to say "there are some you marry but more you practice on." We dated at UT and for several years after... then we both got married to others. I got divorced after 21 years of marriage and she is still married. With the Michigan and Ohio U head coaches in mind, you be careful around the Forty Acres and remember you aren't a student anymore! Hook 'Em!
  11. Yes lol. So year 1, with no nil or portal, is an indictment on him? Come on man. In that case, you better fire Sark, too.
  12. But you have to make exceptions if they are really good looking.
  13. I'm a fan of PK, but were you around for 2021?
  14. A significant bonus to hiring WM, aside from taking the D up a notch in attention to detail and aggression, is an inside look at the UG defensive details and an opposing coach's scouting report on your offense. Both instrumental in defeating UG down the road, and critical information PK could never provide.
  15. PK hasn't been stellar? I can't take anything you say seriously after that....
  16. I disagree. Obviously Muschamp was his first choice but timing was bad as stated here. Now that timing works, and PK hasn’t been stellar, it opened it up to finally happening. If your dream becomes available, even if you have to wait a few years, you gonna turn it down? Especially if what you settled for hasn’t been all that great? Some people look at these things all wrong. This is nothing like the Venables last ditch effort hiring/firing. This was a chance to optimize. Ofc you take that chance.
  17. This kid has been insane all year long. There's a reason the other kid moved out before the season started.
  18. I just looked him up for his 2025 track season and he ran an 11.5 100 m. My point was that this is the kind of kid that might get to Texas and start working out and become actually fast to go with his skills already. He is clearly a great running back.
  19. Nah he knows I'm just playing lol.
  20. Thanks I think I talked to you about cards back in the day on 247. My boy is getting all into them.
  21. I’m a little curious how in 2023 we were 2nd in 3rd down defense and 8th in 2024 but that is indicative of “bend but don’t break defense.” That’s counterintuitive.
  22. That was on Special Teams, not the Defense.
  23. Few caught him when he got a step so not so sure on “pads on” long speed being anything short of an asset.
  24. I hope we see it. It is hard for me to dismiss all the times Sark went for it on 4th down and there were drops, penalties or missed assignments. He got flat out coached by Kirby last game and I hope these changes are the ones that put us over the top. I would love to know what went on behind the scenes after Georgia.
