Great to have you as part of the OTF community!
-
The best part of the site is we focus on sports. We don't give two cents for pop culture, politics, or movie reviews! We stick to Texas sports or something that would affect us directly like Congress's latest meddling. There is a lot of great content and I love the guest speakers. You made the right choice.

It’s a hypothetical. Why are you assuming that they are going to start Hutson? And even if they do, he was actually pretty average last year. We can win it all if the rest of the line is above average to elite and our LG is average. Indiana had a few average pieces on its OL, including everybody’s favorite Westlake RG.

This episode tomorrow is about to be a banger… -
I just signed up. I have been watching the OTF staff on youtube for the last year and chose this site because of them. I had been on the free site at Orangebloods for many years, but it got taken down a few months back. I just wanted to briefly introduce myself as I am anxiously awaiting this season and talking Texas sports. Btw, I hate ou more than aggy. Hook'em!

I’ll agree Nick Brooks simply wasn’t ready, full stop. That was a flood disasterclass. Them not moving Cole over was baffling to me. You won’t hear any disagreement on Brooks. The missing blocks thing is interesting because in a nut shell, you’re right. But outside zone versus power gap is so much different in what needs to work. When you’re running zone, you have to beat someone to a spot, that’s the name of the game. If you don’t get there, the play is blown up if DL are attacking upfield. Power gap is pretty much just big on big double teams, trying to push DL into LB with pulling guards coming into the hole sometimes. You have a little more forgiveness on power schemes because of how the blocking shakes out. With zone, if you have one mess up, especially on the interior, you are looking at 3-4 yard losses. Stroh’s problem was he was too slow, which allowed for more athletic, attacking DL to cross his face and get into the backfield. This goes back to, I think, a previous point you’ve made about how sark should have known his personnel better. This is true. At the same time, if someone isn’t built for outside zone, then they’ll fail really spectacularly.

Protect College Sports Act latest draft

While true (about laying groundwork for their own rulebook), you are putting power in congress that doesn't belong there, will be fraught with issues, and too slow to react and adjust to changes... so actually while seems good, think it will ultimately be detrimental and will require the conferences to write their own rulebook... 🤘 -
Stroh’s overall grade was 59.7. His pass blocking efficiency was 94.7. Not good but not horrible. And since he hasn’t played in 3 years, I’d expect growth out him. Brooks was 36.6 and sub-90. Drastic differences. And I don’t fault Brooks, but that’s the biggest head scratcher as to why he played. CJ also pointed out in the past week that Brooks allowed pressure on 16% of pass plays whereas all others were 6% or lower. Only one of those was horrible. Basically the same as efficiency just calculated differently. So why am I so adamant in defense? Because the narrative starts off misleading. Some plays yes. Some plays no. Guys miss blocks all the time. I’d guess it’s much closer to 0% of plays than 100% that all 5 make a block on a given play. And you know Arch can dodge one on just about any given play. And versus OSU we had more yards rushing and yards per carry than anyone. So that doesn’t really compute as to how he screwed that all up. Ole Miss. Of their top 5 Olinemen in terms of snap count, two graded lower than Stroh. You do not get sub-60s by winning every play. I’m not arguing Stroh is better but rather all the other points. On any run, that’s at least two guys losing the play. It didn’t destroy their run game.
