Exactly why some of us were calling for more experienced portal help at WR, RB and OL during the offseason. Just not enough starting experience or explosiveness on this offense.

The team, especially the offense, is very young and inexperienced. They are going to to have to be patient as well as very focused over the next two weeks to get the most of their growing opportunities.

Wingo needs to catch the balls that hit him in the hands. He gives up too easily. Receivers have to fight for the catch but the easy ones are just that.

Simmons appears to be fine. At least there was no mention of him from Sark as far as an injury goes. Sark didn't confirm anything on Moore, other than he got dinged and they held him out.

...and we have to endure the growing pains. A lot of dudes are finally starting for the first time and they just don't have the game experience to be playing at a very high level. As long as we are improving each game, the best is yet to come. A good example is Arch's awareness of the situation. He wants to make plays when it might be best to run or just eat the play. Simmons is like a mountain goat in heat, he just wants to bang heads, when subtlety might be best on that play. Sark knows what he's doing. Patience is not our strong point.

He probably would have hit a few more passes today and may have seen the open intermediate crosser Arch keeps missing on some of his deep shots. He also would have been sacked about 5 times by SJSU.

If I’m not mistaken, Texas was playing with 5 man boxes at times. Zero respect or concern with SJSU’s running game. All about stopping the pass.

On Coffee and Football yesterday it was mentioned by Bryan Erwin that he wants to see some of these running backs run like that butt was on fire. I still don’t see any of them run like that. Some of it is running out of the shotgun formation, it is so slow developing. Slow getting started and sometimes the hole has closed before they get going. Today they got a few yards but we should have been able to run at will on San Jose State. They run nearly every thing between the tackles. I’d like to see a toss sweep to try to stretch it outside. Our running backs juke and jive trying to find a few yards. It’s too slow developing. Today wasn’t what he meant running like your butt is on fire.

Arch is more comfortable throwing the ball 40 yards downfield than he is tossing it to someone wide open standing right next to him.

Running back Quintrevion Wisner, who rushed for a game-high 86 yards in a season-opening road loss to Ohio State, is dealing with a leg injury. Not wanting to “force the issue with him,” Sarkisian said, Wisner watched CJ Baxter Jr. (13 carries for 64 yards), Jerrick Gibson (seven carries for 38 yards) and Christian Clark (23 yards on four carries) lead the rushing attack from the sideline. “I wanted Christian to play more; I wanted Jerrick to get opportunities,” Sarkisian said. “It worked out for us that way.” The Longhorns were also without defensive tackle Alex January and wide receiver Emmett Mosley V, neither of whom dressed out for the game. I don’t believe our offense remains a mystery Jeff. That seems a little harsh . I would prefer to say we are a work in progress & shown improvement in the second game . keep improving next two games we will be fine .

I totally agree with you but Oregon doesn’t get nearly the amount of national hate and pressure that Texas gets which I believe contributes a whole lot to how these guys play and coach. Especially Arch and the offense. Still, it’s an issue that needs to be inexcusable and hopefully when they go into the swamp and hopefully beat Florida, I think some of that pressure will come off. They just have to win one big one and they’ll have a weight lifted off of them and play like they’re expected too play.

I despise roughing the punter calls on 4th down. I think I might even hate them more than true turnovers.
