There are likely several reasons for this stat. This may be the distance at which QB pressure is most impactful. Since we’re 3rd and long quite often, we’re likely in this range when forced to be rather than we want to be. Arch is tied for 4th in number of pressures at that distance. Quick math shows of those in the top 5 his pressure rate is the highest. He’s tied for 34th in number of attempts.

SEC response to NCAA on gambling
Steamboat Willie replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
NCAA Brainstorms: “How Can We Ruin College Sports Faster?” I can not fathom how the NCAA could reason out this was a good idea. They almost let athletes start betting on pro sports this weekend, and thank God Sankey and the SEC presidents slammed the brakes. Seriously, what planet are these people on? We’ve got pros with million-dollar contracts and layers of oversight getting themselves indicted over gambling, and the NCAA thought a bunch of 19-year-olds with NIL cash and Instagram DMs sliding in from bookies would handle it better? That’s insane. It’s not just “bad optics,” it’s flat-out dangerous. Once you normalize gambling for players, the lines blur instantly — integrity goes out the window, careers get compromised, and every shady operator in the world smells blood. The NCAA is supposed to protect competition, not hand it over to DraftKings. The rule is “delayed” three weeks, but it needs to be torched permanently. The NCAA is the dodo bird of college sports — useless, outdated, and stumbling its way into extinction. And if this is their idea of leadership, the sooner they go extinct, the better. -
God I can’t believe I watched that. They all sound the same. When he was asked to step in(fed govt) he kicked it back to the NCAA. Okay so what was the point of going on the show then?

My take would be to avoid the obvious. And outside of Kiffin, who’s the obvious? Go for the rising coordinator or G5 guy and roll the dice.

The strengths definitely align more closely with Quinn. Will be interesting to see what deep balls Sark calls if it’s Caldwell. Arch being a 50% passer on intermediate throws is just a shocking statistic. Throw in 3 ints and only 2 TDs just to pile on. I know that is biased by some of his early season “yips”, but he’s got to be MUCH better than that if he wants to be successful going forward. This is reason #1b along with the OL/running game issues as to why we haven’t been able to move the ball consistently.

Kobe had to be carried by Shaq

Only player in NBA history to outscore a team by himself through three quarters was Kobe against the Mavs on 20 December 2005. About three weeks before he scored 81.

He's also much looser with the football in both fumbles and interceptions. That can be devastating in a game like this. Quinn big problem was definitely "running into sacks" and not really maneuvering in the pocket and stuff. Arch has been up and down and making the easy stuff look really hard but it's 3 weeks in a row with 0 turnover worthy throws while being under pressure most of the time. I absolutely agree with you if this can be a kentucky/OU type game... I'm much more afraid of the game turning into a situation where the defense is tired/leaky and we have to score 30+. If we can't run the ball and OL isn't protecting I don't see us winning without Arch. I'm not as confident as some people here are about this being "Texas' game to lose"... but I'm also often very wrong so I'll gladly eat crow if we stomp Vandy this saturday 😅😂

I am picking on you, but most of the folks on this thread just do not understand how the coaching gig works. First, you are an assistant. Then, you are a coordinator. Then, you go to a smaller (ie less well known) school. Then, after you make your mark at these levels, you go for the annuity. If i was Collin, I would take OSU in a heartbeat. But I think they will look for HC experience....... Major would be a good choice there. he is toiling in a cesspool now.

He hasn’t snorted his weekly powdered mayo yet. Once that happens, we won’t hear from him until Tuesday. -
I get the dark humor, but in Woodward's defense, the contract he gave out was the standard head coach deal. In truth everyone in Cajun country, from Monroe to Morgan City was giddy. The real issue here is reality. In this year's hiring rampage of 10 or so "big time coaches", only 1 will be brilliant..........the others will be fiscally irresponsible.

Just rewatched Kobe score 45 against Duncan and Robinson in game one of WCF when he was 22. Five dunks, big left handed dunked in the face of Duncan. What does fatty have?

Personally, I wouldn't. They'll find a good coach who will. I do think this will keep Kiffin away from LSU though. Ole Miss will either pay up (and Kiffin recruits against a down LSU in Louisiana) or he goes to Florida with less drama (and equally amazing recruiting grounds).
