The problem with baseball portal recruiting is very few are in the know. Most throw crap at the wall and hope it sticks (see: Samford INF visiting, Watters being all Ga Tech). The best part of baseball season being over is the reporters pretending to know baseball can stop playing like they know for awhile and we don’t have to see it. If you’re wanting legitimate Texas insider information, there’s two people I’d trust. One is typing this message as you’re reading it. The other is Zachary Symm. I normally wouldn’t post a competitor on here, but I think he does an outstanding job covering baseball and I know he’s connected. So a hat tip from me. If it’s not coming from one of us, I’d be cautious. I’m not trying to say no one else is ever right (nor am I tooting my own horn), but I feel track records speak for themselves.

@GoHorns1 pretty much said it above White’s already said he’s selective in the portal because Texas actually recruits and develops elite kids. If you’re signing top‑10 classes every year, you don’t turn around and portal over them - that’s how you kill your own pipeline. And he’s right: if recruits think you’re just going to replace them with mercenaries, they’ll stop coming. Tech’s model works only as long as the money hose stays open. They’re basically renting other schools’ finished products. No top recruit is choosing that over a place that actually develops players. White will portal, but he’s not doing the “replace half the roster” thing. He’ll be targeted - probably a pitcher, maybe a bat, maybe a utility defender. Someone like Luna from Texas State is exactly the profile: proven, experienced, and doesn’t block your blue‑chip freshmen. Texas will add needs, not a whole new team...going to guess Texas adds 2–3 transfers, not 6–8.

The goal is assembly a better team. Want players that want to play FOR Texas not be at Texas for the money. Play for your teammates not a check.

He (Glasco) is hard to listen to in a press conference, but I did gain a measure of respect based on how he handled himself in a difficult situation.

FWIW, I thought Glasco’s post-game comments about the Longhorns, both players and coaches, was very respectful and classy. It gave me a new found respect for him. Not every Red Raider is a POS.

By the way, I don't think McGuire is absolved of responsibility for this because Campbell is telling him to keep quit. I've quit two jobs in my life because I thought what they were asking me to do was wrong. And didn't have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life like McGuire. Morals can't be contingent on money.

Hmm, she left ou softball because of mental health, maybe she's quit softball altogether, never know. Could make sense to look for a pitcher in the portal depending on what we have next year; at least 3 good pitchers would be solid and Texas currently has Kavan and Wells as likely 1 & 2 heading into the season. After that it's up for grabs.

She is a top notch pitcher and will be a big contributor.

White has said that he's selective in the portal because of the highly touted recruits they get. He says it would not only not be fair to the recruits if you recruit them only to portal players to take the spots they were going to take; might as well not recruit them in the first place. It would also make it hard for you to recruit because why would they come to your school then. Tech's strategy is bold and can only last so long as they have money. Because I can't imagine any top recruit would want to go there since they aren't being developed, they're taking other school's developed players. We should start a thread to look at the roster for next year, would be a fun discussion.

Most of most was when Glasco was at ULL. They are extremely close friends, Glasco late daughter played for White at Oregon.

It’s not impossible that she’s a factor but it’s not necessarily something I would count on for sure. She also removed texas softball from her bio (which could mean nothing) and didn’t travel with the team or post anything about the postseason run to the title at all. Also being removed completely from the online roster doesn’t make sense even if she was ineligible. I think anything she contributes is a bonus but it shouldn’t be counted on.
