66 Days Until Kickoff: Who Was The Best No. 66?

I thought the same thing about Anderson when we picked him up. Had it not been for him our OL would have been pretty bad. -

Wasn't Calvin the transfer in from Rice? I remember thinking, oh boy, we're taking guys from Rice?! And then I happily ate my words. What a great young man and football player! I remember watching Dawson when I was young, tough dude. That said, based on accomplishments, Harley really does set the standard for #66 IMHO. HookEm! - Today

It took Luke a long time to get back from his TJ surgery. He has been really good compared to last year. -

Sherrard commitment announcement is today
All Gas No Brakes replied to Migas & Fajitas's topic in On Texas Football Forum
OTF has definitely been talking about his commitment on multiple videos and posted on the website several times as well. I believe his commitment is at 11:20 AM on the Rivals YouTube channel. Gerry is currently doing his Mayo plunge so he may need a few minutes before he can confirm this. -
We’re 66 days away from Texas football. Today’s group is a strong one up front with Harley Sewell, Doug Dawson, Herb Gray and Calvin Anderson. Sewell is the headliner as a two-time consensus All-American, Cotton Bowl MVP, College Football Hall of Famer and four-time NFL Pro Bowler. Dawson was a consensus All-American and captain of the 1983 team, while Gray was a consensus All-American, All-SWC tackle and SWC Defensive MVP. Anderson gave Texas a big one-year boost in 2018, starting every game at left tackle for a Sugar Bowl-winning team.

MLB rules rewarded the Mets for losing Rocker by giving them an extra #11 overall in the 2022 draft, automatically granted the Mets a massive, expanded draft budget for 2022. This financial flexibility allowed the Mets to aggressively draft and sign high-upside players who slid due to bonus demands.

Big season for Tre Johnson with the Wiz coming up. I argued last spring that he wasn't really as good as many thought. Looks like he's about the fourth guard in the Wiz rotation, behind luminaries like Will Riley. Hope he gets it going. -

I trust Max, we all should. if he likes him, I DO TOO! -
Oh yeah, they can totally ask for an inflated signing bonus, or it will be a wasted draft pick (that season). Similar to when the Mets drafted Kumar Rocker in 2021 out of Vandy. The New York Mets selected Kumar Rocker, a Vanderbilt right-hander, with the 10th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, expecting a steal. Rocker had agreed to a $6 million signing bonus, $1.4 million above the $4.74 million slot value for the 10th pick Wikipedia+1. However, after Rocker traveled to New York for his post-Draft physical, Mets officials expressed serious concerns about his elbow health. His velocity had dipped during his junior season, and his mechanics raised red flags CBS Sports+1. Because Rocker had not participated in MLB’s pre-draft MRI program, his medicals were not shared with other teams, and the Mets could forgo making him an offer without penalty MLB+1. Instead of negotiating a reduced deal, the Mets chose not to extend any offer before the 5 p.m. ET signing deadline. Acting GM Zack Scott said, “This is clearly not the outcome we had hoped for and wish Kumar nothing but success moving forward” MLB+1. Rocker’s agent, Scott Boras, countered that Rocker was healthy per independent orthopedic surgeon reviews and had no need for medical attention ESPN+1. As a result: The Mets did not sign Rocker. They received the No. 11 pick in the 2022 Draft as compensation Rocker remained eligible for the 2022 draft and later was selected 3rd overall by the Texas Rangers

The better question (which I don’t know the answer to) is how did he hit against the real big10 teams and strong OOC opponents. Because there is a lot of bad baseball played at the middle/bottom of the big10 -

I think in a few years, Coach Bates will have an SEC championship and national championship level program in women’s college soccer at Texas. One of the few sports out of the 21 to never win a natty at Texas. Excited to see what she can do in year one. I know their season overlaps with football and women’s indoor volleyball, but I’ll definitely tune into a few soccer games this season. -
January 4, 2006 : who was there?
Bobby Burton replied to Arch2025's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Whether you were there in ‘04 or ‘05, the whole “Granddaddy of Them All” experience of the Rose Bowl was terrific. California football doesn’t do much for me; but that venue at that time of year with half the stadium in burnt orange, there is nothing better. -
We were there - best game u have ever experienced!!

Mexico beat Ecuador 2-0 and advance to the round of 16. They have not been scored upon in any match. Their defense is exceptional.
