That was my point in my response. Jville would not cut Ewers after trading for him. In response to your last sentence, perhaps Jville wasn't confident that Miami would waive QE or they knew it was going to happen but weren't confident that their claim of QE would win. When multiple teams make waiver claims, priority goes to the team with the lower W-L record from last year. Jville was 13-4 in 2025. They are 24th in the selection order off waivers (the same order as the 2026 draft -- if they had not traded away their 2026 first round pick, they would have selected 24th). So Jville may have made the trade to avoid the uncertainty of winning a waiver claim and to ensure they got QE.

This game is kind of a classic. Ton of turnovers but you can tell these teams genuinely hate eachother.

As soon as I thought they were tying the bow on the season and they do this. Lane Kiffin and Will Wade are really doing a disservice to collegiate athletics. I hope Texas continues to stay clean but it's very disappointing and upsetting seeing how they cater for more money constantly. LSU basketball will be the most corrupt team in NCAA history all sports.

The conference has a rule that you cannot transfer to another conference school. The judge did not address that. League stays in compliance and still gets to enfore their rules.

First Arizona high school game I've watched since Jake Smith was a senior. Only watching this one because Roberts is a Texas commit. Impressed with both QBs, surprisingly accurate I thought for this early in the season. Jury is still out on Roberts for me. Had the one long run but otherwise he didn't really look like the # 4 RB nationally (ESPN ranking ... he's # 17 at 247C and # 32 RB and a 3* from 247). Good game except for the penalties. Chandler is outgunned on the LOS but hanging in there. A Basha guard is 6'5" 340 lbs, going to Cal, and their OT Hildebrand is ranked # 11 OT (higher than Brian Swanson) and headed to ASU. Chandler QB Mencl is impressive (except for that one INT), Oregon is getting a good one. # 88 for Basha is having a great game, two TDs and a third on the punt return called back because of the illegal block.

Doesn't make any sense to cut Ewers if they traded for him. If Miami cut him, they could have simply claimed him off waivers without the trade.

Someone said Jville will cut QE and bring him back? That's highly unlikely. They wouldn't have traded for him if they were planning to do that b/c there's no guarantee they could keep him if they cut him. He could sign with someone else and they'd be out the pick. If the cut/resign to practice squad was said about Miami before the trade, I could buy that.

I need the message board doctors to tell me if Abby is coming back this season or not…
