Pocket mobility, creating throwing windows, extending plays. Based on what we've seen, KJ seems to have the ability to threaten all aspects of the field based on his ability to create new throwing windows for himself. Arch has regressed into being a statuesque QB, planted as an easy stationary target. He doesn't give himself the opportunity to create any new throwing windows by being so rooted in 1 spot. 2. Ball placement, touch and "catchable" passes Arch has turned into a David Carr / Garrett Gilbert like QB who fires every pass as a rocket no matter the target, distance or situation. We've seen dirt balls at WR feet, balls off guy's faces, sailing over their heads. KJ has shown effective touch on both short passes and back shoulder deep balls (think the throw to Berkhalter) These types of throws will allow Cam Coleman to be a threat in the offense. Jermaine Bishop to catch & run on drag routes, over the middle quick RPO slants etc. Unlocking neglected parts of Sark's offense RB screens will be back in play again, maybe even the renowned "Sark screen" 3. Lastly, is the timing of the actual plays. KJ has exhibited the ability to distribute the ball quickly as a point guard vs holding the ball. Arch isn't doing his beleaguered O-line any favors by how he's playing behind them. We might not get as many 40 yard bombs down field, but I'd rather prefer an efficient move the chains Colt McCoy style operation that helps our defense recover and regroup. / random thoughts

Sark needs this kind of Augie intensity

When Augie got here, he was already a legend. Sark wasn't. Big difference. -
Sark’s QB rep built on Carroll and Saban’s rosters?

A question i have because ive seen it thrown around a lot about Sark being a great head coach, what evidence is there of that? -
OTF Premium What I believe about KJ Lacey ...

For sure. Maybe this will be the week the offense looks like a varsity team. Otherwise, defense is gonna give up points again. Ole Miss has scored 30 in every game this season except against Florida where they scored 28. Meanwhile, we have only scored 30 points against Texas State and UTSA (30 exactly).

Sark’s QB rep built on Carroll and Saban’s rosters?

He sure can't be trusted to not have a weak link in the unit, whether it is lack of development, or evals, or landing "must get" recruits / portal targets is up for debate. He may not own QB performance, but he definitely should own the lack of running game success. -
First it was PK. Now it’s Arch and Flood. Next it’ll be another round of assistants sacrificed to save the offensive genius. Six years, countless excuses, and somehow the guy who hired the coaches, recruited the players, built the offense, and calls the plays is the only one who escapes accountability. At some point, you run out of people to blame and have to admit the guy holding the clipboard is the problem.

Even with 1 out there, it was going to be a very difficult matchup against Ole Miss for the Texas defense. Without his presence, not only in the pass rush but against the run also, I don't see the defense doing much better this week than against Florida. He has been the only Edge consistently providing pressure and consistently setting the edge against runs. Richard Wesley has definitely shown he can get a push, but he has lost contain consistently. I personally have no clue how we are favored this weekend. On one hand I wouldn't be surprised if Texas wins, on the other hand I would be shocked if they do win?? It's an impossible team to predict, the game on Saturday won't change how I view the team one way or another. Tackling needs to improve either way.

I actually think I’m coming around to the view that this is much more of a Kyle Flood issue. Arch was pretty much on track at the beginning of the season until that hit to the head against UTSA. Ever since then, the line cannot keep interior pressure off of him. He’s clearly spooked and seeing ghosts. The same thing happened with Quinn. I think we all recognize that Quinn was never an elite QB, but part of that was because he was hurt so often and part of it was because he was under pressure constantly. When he had a clean pocket, he could execute the offense flawlessly outside of the deep ball. I think there’s definitely some truth to the idea that Sark isn’t quite the QB whisperer that his reputation would suggest, but I would like to see his offense perform with a competent offensive line. I don’t know how much of the OL scheme problems is on Sark vs Flood, but he needs to completely overhaul.

Great! Then we agree its "possible". That was the simple idea and statement from the very beginning. Happy to hear that we are on the same page. Have an outstanding day! I want what is best for This Team. What is Best for Arch. We all want the same thig, the question is the pathway to achieve the desired result. Hook'em!!!

Quinn didn't get developed? He arrived as a talented but inconsistent QB and left as a conference champion, playoff quarterback, and likely NFL draft pick. Was he perfect? No. Did he still miss throws? Sure. But saying he wasn't developed at all is revisionist history. And it's okay to admit Arch hasn't played well lately without pretending every issue on offense is Sark, Milwee, or Flood
-
What family wouldn’t want their son developed? And yes, influence is “possible”. As it is with any family, it’s “possible”. I remember hearing how Mack played Chris Simms to make Phil Simms happy. Why? Who knows.
-
1 game won't determine that, or would it?
-
I don't know what to tell you. It has been mentioned ad nauseum on OTF on the Manning Family wanting Arch to be developed. The Manning Family wants Arch to prepare for The NFL. Pocket Passer. Play Action. Make NFL type throws. The Manning Family doesn't want to see Arch take hits. This is well documented as Arch himself has addressed it. I would submit, that if the Best thing for this Team would be for a QB to play any different than that then that is "influence". For example, if the Best thing for this Team is Arch to play a style like Tim Tebow, then that would be a problem. eve if it is The Best thing for The Team. Likewise, if this Team needed a true dual threat QB like play and that style was given to Arch, then that would be a problem. As subtle as "influence" can be, it is certainly possible. Again, I'm not saying that has taking place. I will also add that it works the other way: Do you realize how many Coaches make promises to Families in order to secure their Commitment from High School? promises that don't come true. Is that not "influence". All good. Hook'em!!!

dentonhorn replied to Steamboat Willie's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I do think his reputation is largely built on someone providing him with overwhelming talent that makes up for other shortcomings. Way way overblown his X and O abilities. Wish we had one of those OCs that can make great offense out of average talent just by system and play calling within it. - Today

How would he be influenced? And I don’t think families of players have much influence. I’m sure coaches do their best to be nice and patient, but I doubt some dad is influencing any coach of substance.
