In recent years, Steve Sarkisian hasn’t released the first depth chart of the season until Texas’ opening game. Assuming that’s the case again in 2026, and the first depth chart isn’t made public until Saturday, when the Longhorns kick off Sarkisian’s sixth season against Texas State (2:30 p.m., ESPN), On Texas Football has you covered. We’re making a final depth chart projection before the season starts, which comes with a few key things to know: — Texas reportedly utilized two-back personnel in both camp scrimmages. That’s why we’re keeping Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown as co-starters at running back, although Smothers (based on what sources have told OTF throughout camp) is the current favorite to be the first back on the field. — After the top three wideouts on the roster (Cam Coleman, Emmett Mosley V and Ryan Wingo), Sterling Berkhalter, Jermaine Bishop Jr. and Daylan McCutcheon appear to be locked in as the top three backups. — Andre Cojoe, who’s in line to start against Texas State at left tackle if Trevor Goosby (knee) can’t go, is the team’s No. 3 tackle. Jaydon Chatman has worked at multiple positions in camp (and throughout his career). Along with Chatman, Jackson Christian, Cole Hutson and Dylan Sikorski are the top reserves on the interior. — The Longhorns have listed three interior defensive line positions on the depth chart under Sarkisian. Expect to see the top two at each position featured in the rotation, with Myron Charles making a push throughout camp to earn snaps. — We’ve got Colton Vasek on the depth chart at EDGE and SAM linebacker, where he’ll play situationally. We’re also putting Jordon Johnson-Rubell with the WLB group and the safeties. — After the top-four safeties, Toray Davis is currently projected to be the fifth safety in line for snaps. I want to see pace and timing in the offensive backfield. Crisp handoffs, backs picking up the blitz, speed going outside and between the tackles. Aggressive confidence from the RBs.

The Lions have a putrid RB situation behind Gibbs and their RB coach is none other than Tashard Choice. Wonder if that could be a landing spot for Blue.

I know it's been talked about before, but it's worth mentioning again that there's some semblance of a relationship between Jimmy Haslam and the Manning family. Haslam is a massive University of Tennessee donor and is friends (on some level) with Peyton Manning. It's not like the family would deal with an owner they don't know or have no idea who they'd be dealing with.

Someone will pick up Blue. He needs to understand how the League works. Unless you are Patrick Mahomes, keep quiet and be a dog.

Cannot imagine Arch putting in for the 2027 NFL Draft if Cleveland gets the top pick. Why risk getting picked by Browns and getting stuck in a quarterback Purgatory? Just stay at Texas another year.

He has had maturity issues going back to HS. He got injured last season because he wore brand new designer cleats in practice that had never been broken in. The NFL isn’t putting up with that kind of stuff.

Now they are running a 5 -1. Change to the setter.

Gerry has been praying on his downfall for years he was not a blue fan even when he was on Texas

Idk about this year but the organization did not like how he carried himself last season. There is a reason he was DNP so much and Davis who’s been cut like 5x by the cowboys made it over him. Wish the best of luck to him at his next stop.
