  1. Past hour
  2. Don’t do it
  3. Today
  4. That would just turn me off CFB at that point. But I'm just one guy. But I don't get a share of the pie, so my opinion matters zero.
  5. More money, more money. Regular season play determines seeding and possibly of 2 additional home games.
  6. I'd much rather have this staff than anything Herman. But I think all 3 of the good RB's Sark had were Herman recruits? Unless I'm mistaken. Seems like Herman could identify talent he was just next to useless in developing it or utilizing it lol. Although his OL recruitment left a lot to be desired, while I have my gripes about Flood he's a definite upgrade over Hand. I think Herman's last class had one OL and that was Hayden Connor?
  7. I think you should still develop QB's. In another comment I made, you should develop the premium positions, T's, DT's, Edges and QB's. Those positions cost a damn fortune in the portal. So if you can develop your own, great. But I get your point there. I think Mosley is a good at all but master of none. Not elite in any category but is a good player to have. Although I think his brother at USC is more dynamic.
  8. Meanwhile our best recent RBs were brought in under Drayton. But this staff for the most part seems like they know their stuff and are upgrades to the original staff.
  9. Elite evals and development, huh?
  10. Those same people claimed Riley doesn’t develop QBs because portal QBs don’t count as development, haha. I actually agree. I think the same could be said with QBs too. Go get the best available, ones that are proven and experienced. Mosley is solid but not elite in any category like the other portal WRs Sark has brought in.
  11. The Dallas Wings have their hands full…
  12. That is a mess.
  13. Yeah, I agree. I know people say "well you developed the guys from the portal" eh, I guess. But most of them were already good. But to my other point that using the portal for WR's seems like the better option. Get some cheaper, developmental 3 star guys at WR in the HS ranks and get your big name guys in the portal. I think they made the mistake of putting too much money into WR retention last year and the HS ranks with Ffrench (now at Michigan), Lockett, McHutechon and Livingstone and Moore who both portaled out. I did like the Mosley addition though, was a shame he was injured most of last year though.
  14. WE have put a few WR in league last couple years. Drafted high too.
  15. With NIL it's not as easy as it once was to flip. They have some guys we'd like but we're still a long way from doing any of that. Gotta see how the season plays out.
  16. You might be right on Alexis and Lee, Sark inherited them when he got the job and kept them in the class. But that actually gets to the bigger point. Of the WRs Sark and his staff have identified, recruited and developed at Texas, Worthy and Wingo are the only two who have really made a significant impact. That’s not a particularly strong hit rate.
  17. Ugh. I hate this idea. We just expanded to 12 teams and now we're already talking about 24? At some point the regular season stops mattering. One of the best things about college football has always been that every game feels huge. A single loss can change your season. Expand it to 24 and we're moving closer to the NFL model where you can lose multiple games and still comfortably make the playoff. This feels a lot more like a TV money decision than a competitive balance decision. Not every problem in college football needs to be solved by adding more playoff games.
  18. He'll be in the portal this off-season. Just buried and even if he stays next year, they probably look to add a RB in the portal to go a long with Cooper. There are some good targets out there to pair with Cooper.
  19. Kid is really good, I don't know if he is a + blocker. But he will be a + receiving threat.
  20. I don't see why they want 24 teams in the playoffs, it just further waters it down, imo. I think they'll get a lot more push back over 24 than they did 12.
  21. Is it bad that I had completely forgotten about Lee and Alexis? I think those guys were Herman recruits though, because Worthy was a late addition to that class if my memory serves me correctly. We're also still waiting for Evan Stewart to commit..lol. I do like the 3 WR recruits from the 2026 class and even the guys in the 2027 class so far. We'll see how it pans out.
  22. Thanks for the detailed breakdown HookemTexas . You made some good points, especially about how much production Texas is replacing and where the likely upgrades are. I think that's a pretty fair breakdown. The biggest upgrade is obviously at 2B. Going from a good, experienced player like Goode to the reigning Player of the Year is about as clean of an upgrade as you'll find on paper. I'm a little more cautious on catcher than you are. Swan absolutely showed up in the postseason and I like her upside, but replacing Atwood behind the plate is a huge ask. The offense may end up being comparable, but Atwood controlled games defensively in ways that don't always show up in the box score. I also agree that LF should be an upgrade offensively. That's probably the easiest spot on the field to improve from last year's numbers. RF is the one position I think fans may be undervaluing. People focus on batting average and power, but Maloney's speed, ability to pressure defenses, and especially her arm saved a lot of runs. Replacing those outfield assists won't be easy. The next player may put up bigger offensive numbers, but that doesn't automatically mean the overall value is higher. As for pitching, Lincoln being a lefty definitely adds a different look and gives White more options. The question for me isn't whether the talent is there, it's whether she can be as reliable as Citlaly was when the season was on the line. By the end of the postseason, Citlaly was pitching some of her best softball of the year. Overall, I agree the roster talent is probably better top-to-bottom than last season. The bigger question isn't whether Texas has enough talent to make another WCWS run. It's whether the lineup develops more consistency 1 through 9. There were too many stretches last year where it felt like Stewart was carrying the offense. If a few hitters take a step forward, this team may have a higher ceiling than the one that just played for a national title. Again, appreciate the insight. Always enjoy reading thoughtful softball posts like this.
  23. He's barely played but I do like his upside. My point was that over his 6 year tenure, only two of his recruited WR's have panned out. That being Xavier Worthy and now Ryan Wingo. Everyone else barely got onto the field or ended up transferring out/was pushed out. The point is don't get too caught up in recruiting WR's as they're usually a dime a dozen in the portal with guys breaking out every year. Positions you want to develop are T's, DT, Edge and QB's. Because those are your premium positions that cost a fortune in the portal.
  24. Better to be in than not. And the rangers went 4-9 vs this averags team. A decade straight. Facts dont lie. awful 2 games
  25. According to Ross Dellenger they are closer than ever now. The Yahoo article has the details. Just get the $ right and pretty much will be done. https://x.com/RossDellenger/status/2105411439468900593?s=20
  26. Agree with all points. If Abdullah isn't ready yet, the infield is already solid. The question marks are really the corner outfield, but I'm not sure there are many questions. The positions being replaced by departing seniors (from the World Series starting lineup): Catcher - probably a slight downgrade considering Atwood's defensive prowess, she was elite. Offensively, Atwood was of course great, but struggled in the post season. I think Swan will be serviceable there and she showed up last post season so hopefully that carries over. Pitcher - I believe Lincoln is a slight upgrade over Citlaly mainly because she's a lefty. Citlaly was up and down, but she was nails in the post season when Texas needed her most. 2nd Base - Goode was good (pun intended) but you're replacing her with the player of the year who is elite both offensively and defensively. Texas upgraded. Left field - pretty much non-existent offensively except for a key Altmeier bomb when they needed it post season. Defensively it was about average, so whoever takes it over is probably an upgrade over last year. Right field - offensively, Maloney was speed on the bases, but her average dipped a little. She didn't have power, but she often turned the lineup over and did it well. Defensively she had so many outfield assists it was insane. That's where replacing her will be hard. Also expecting an offensive upgrade overall. The team is poised to make another run though (depending on how the new coaches mesh in and get the team going). I feel like the batting outside of Katie Stewart dipped a bit last year; looking for improvement there for the team overall.
