  1. Past hour
  2. The previous record was 618 in 1985. Greg Swindell set the single-season school record with 204 strikeouts that same year.
  3. After allowing a single, Winter induces a 6-4-3 double play to end the eighth.
  4. Burnt Orange sky in Austin! What could be more perfect!! 🤘🏻🤘🏼🤘🤘🏽🤘🏾🤘🏿
  5. Winter's strikeout to open the eighth is the 619th of the season for the Longhorn pitching staff, setting a new school record.
  6. Maybe Tech will suggest that Sorsby replace him. 🤣
  7. M8: Texas 16, Tarleton State 2 Michael Winter is out of the bullpen to work the eighth.
  8. A solo shot to right by Rodriguez makes it 16-2 in favor of the Longhorns.
  9. Borba really needs some work on keeping his head in and trying to go with the ball when on the outside. He also chases too many out of the strike zone and it seems like he is looking at the fence half the time.
  10. Sure, Tarleton’s seen him and UCSB has a whole season of film - that’s not really the point. There’s a difference between ‘they’ve scouted him’ and ‘we just let them watch him throw 84 pitches in real time the night before they might face him.’ Coaches don’t usually volunteer that kind of live look in a 13–0 game unless they have to. And yeah, I get the Ruger shoulder hedge and the Riojas insurance angle - that actually makes more sense than the scouting argument. But that’s kind of my point: if they’re worried about tomorrow’s arms, it means they’re stretching Volantis because they don’t trust the rest of the plan, not because this is some ideal scenario. It’s still a weird amount of work for a blowout. Not trying to argue with you Jeff, just feel this is kind of weird. And back in the Sandy Koufax days, yeah, he’d have thrown 180 pitches and then asked for the ball tomorrow - but that was before sports science, analytics, and common sense existed 😃
  11. Hamilton gets Tatom to ground out to second to end the inning. We're through seven with the Longhorns up by 13 runs.
  12. Too bad that run was charged to Volantis and we lost the shoutout. Good performance by him.
  13. Whatever it takes to shut the door tomorrow night.
  14. One of those runs was charged to Volantis, who now has a 1.94 ERA on the season.
  15. Ideally for me tomorrow, I’d like to see the combo of Ruger, Burns, Leffew, Crossland, and Cozart close it out.
  16. Hamilton allows a single and a double. The shutout is over. It's a 15-2 lead for the Longhorns.
