Offense: - Two days into preseason camp, my overall view on the quarterback competition remains the same as it was going in. It’s fair to call Sayin the presumptive frontrunner, but I still believe there’s a real competition between him and Kienholz – especially after Kienholz was named an Iron Buckeye on Friday. Neither quarterback has delivered a wow moment yet in camp, but they also haven’t made many glaring mistakes. As was the case on Thursday, there wasn’t a runaway winner of the day between the two quarterbacks. Sayin had the more efficient day on Friday, showing composure in the pocket and making smart decisions with the ball, but the vast majority of his throws in Friday’s practice were short throws. Kienholz operated with a similar script and had a few misfires, including one near-interception for which he had to run a lap around the field - James Peoples and CJ Donaldson were the first running backs in the order for their respective squads and continue to look the part of OSU’s top two running backs this season. Defense: - Eddrick Houston did not participate in drills but was present for Friday’s practice, walking around the field in a knee brace with a slight limp after leaving Thursday’s practice due to injury. - With Houston out, Will Smith Jr. and Tywone Malone lined up at defensive tackle with the starters during many of the “teach” periods where the full defense was together on Friday. Kayden McDonald and Jason Moore also repped with the starters on their respective split squads on Friday. - As he did on Thursday, star safety Caleb Downs continued to line up in multiple positions on Ohio State’s defense. On some series, Downs lined up at nickelback with Jaylen McClain and Leroy Roker III manning the safety spots (Malik Hartford and Faheem Delane were the top safeties on the other field during team drills). On other series, Downs moved back to free safety alongside McClain with Lorenzo Styles Jr. manning the nickel spot.

Ahead of Max Clare too; surprising given all the handwringing when we didn’t go all in on him. My money is on Stowers though.

If the expert witness is correct and SFA is 68% women enrollment but women only have 35% of varsity roster spots, then this case was dead on arrival. That is a strict rule of Title IX as far as I can tell. That alone threw out their argument before the court. It will be a much more impactful case when a school that fully complies with all Title IX rules actually cut a women’s sports program due to budgetary concerns.

(Thanks to Longhornnlove for sending this my way.) There’s a recent Title IX ruling that could impact college sports at large, especially those schools that attempted to cut scholarships for women’s sports. It came at SFA where the judge ruled that the school must, because of gender equity, reinstitute three women’s sports that were cut. Malcolm Brown. I remember when he committed to Texas. Was so excited. Thought he was going to be the next Cedric Benson. Must admit. He had a more memorable pro career than collegiate. Brandon Foster comes in second. Relatively unknown in his recruiting class to becoming a true player later on in college. Had a great senior season.

If I were a betting man, I think Texas has more concern about OU ( sux) than Florida. Florida is supposed to be more improved, Billy Napier is betting on that, but Venables loses to Texas again...it's probably curtains for him.

They’re strong in the trenches and lagway is a deep ball nightmare. That’ll keep us in an honest box and they have very good, maybe great backs at what they do. Their secondary was decimated by injuries last year and ours lost 2 NFL picks. Too many unknowns for all this 16-0 nonsense. Our line also hasn’t proven anything and is very inexperienced in meaningful snaps. We might turn out to be great but we have a lot of unproven at key spots. Florida is a dark horse if lagway stays healthy.

Yep, he is not like Sproles at all. Sproles is in my mind the most underrated back ever. He was a poor man's Barry Sanders. If Blue finally is in a good place mentally he can have a real impact for the Cowboys. His speed is rare.

I watched a video of Iverson signing a poster for a kid of Kobe blocking his shot. Iverson asked the kid if he had an extra. He wanted one. Because that's the best he ever was when Kobe was beating him.
