Says “BYU losing created the head to head comparison between Notre Dame and Miami”

No it didn’t, dumb dumb! 🤦‍♂️😂 That head to head comparison has been right there since the first CFP rankings in November.

What a dumb, moronic committee.

What really happened here is the ACC would be apoplectic to have their champion left out AND have Miami out over ND, who has the head to head loss. And the SEC would be apoplectic to have Bama out over the result of a CCG result.

Translation: Bye Bye, Potato Boys!

I think Notre Dame would have been it if Virginia won.

What a mess. I love it! 😂

So BYU looking like crap moves them down but not Alabama?

BYU had a second chance against a team that they already looked like crap against, and then looked like even worse crap lol.

Bama looked like crap against a team they had beat the first time.

So there is technically a difference there.

And BYU’s chances of the CFP weren’t hurt or helped by their Tech loss. They weren’t in the field before and aren’t in the field after.

These head to heads are like a fine wine.  If the selection show would have been a couple of weeks down the road, who’s knows, maybe our head to heads against Oklahoma and A&M would have been considered more valuable.  There are only 3 teams in the playoffs I’m scared of.

So head to head matters but only sometimes? Why were we ranked behind Vandy in the last poll even though we beat them and it was WORSE not closer than the score indicated. BYU being ahead of us is just a f-u to Texas for thinking we could possibly bring a valid case to upset this stupid approach. We need to expand now. We have teams opting out of meaningless bowl games because there’s literally zero point to playing them for the older guys.
Common opponents ND loses to us too. Miami does deserve to be in but somehow they magically moved up 8 spots with a win over Pitt versus us moving 3 spots and being ranked ahead of them with three losses and a dominant win against the number 3 team in the country. We shouldn’t have lost to Florida?? Fine, then kick bama out and put BYU in because they shouldn’t have lost to FSU. G5 has no business being at the table and effectively created a bye for the 2 teams that play them. Instead we get a Bama OU snooze rematch? Horrible, just pitiful. The irony at this point is that we wanted TAMU and OU to go deep enough in the playoffs and get smoked by osu and UGA so we again have an argument posthumously that they got it wrong and we should’ve been dancing.

I actually like that Bama and OU play. I can live with either outcome:

Bama win- first round exit for OU, undoes their biggest season accomplishment, possibly makes it look like a fluke depending on how bad

OU win- makes it look even more like Texas was the better team than Bama

Same for TAMU Miami:

Miami win- first round exit for TAMU, 0-2 to end season, crying Aggies leaving Kyle Field

Aggie win- makes it look like Texas was the better team than Miami

I’m also happy that Oregon and Tech play- Daddy Warbucks #1 vs Daddy Warbucks #2. They deserve each other. Hopefully Nike U can send Raider Rash out crying.

MOST IMPORTANTLY- I’m happy each of them have 2 opportunities to lose before playing one another (1 for Tech because of the bye). Would hate to see any of them play one another, because it would be like rooting for which testicle to have kicked.

Yurachek makes Kamala's word salads seem almost coherent...

I’ll never understand anyone that makes politics an actual part of their identity or maybe in this case it’s just good ole fashioned misogyny/racism. 5 people felt the need to endorse it as well.

This country now. Sports used to be an escape…

Dude I am actually left leaning at this point and dislike Trump quite a bit. Kamala was objectively a pretty avid purveyor of word salad, so on the topic of word salad I felt the reference was apt.

I don’t bring it up, and when I see it I give it a quick react at max and move along with my day.

A good way to make it a bigger part of the discussion board is to make it a bigger deal than it was rather than just rolling your eyes and moving on.

It’s ‘Texas Fatigue’ imo. Every ranking and decision proved that out to me this season in combo with being listed as #1 going into the season. It’s as if they are trying to “punish” Texas by saying we disappointed them.

Yurachek is a self confessed biased incompetent.

He has nothing to do with Kamala Harris who has years of competent public service with integrity to her credit.

That’s a phenomenal joke! Well done!

Nah. It’s by not introducing it. I don’t want to know anyone’s politics or any ism on a sports board. I want one place where community and commonality can occur with a singular common bond. Texas football and that’s it. We’ll disagree enough on that alone. lol.

Be well.🤘🏽

I understand your perspective, and given the current climate, I believe it’s best to steer clear of comments or jokes about politics and political figures. Let's also be careful not to label others as misogynist or racist without evidence, as such accusations are unwarranted and undermine a shared goal of fostering dialogue and community.

So weighing in 2 days later helps, 😂? If you understood my perspective or had shared values, you wouldn’t have replied with your agenda.

I labeled and accused no one. “Maybe it’s”. Your response is fairly revealing though.

The great thing about this post is I got to add a couple to the ignore bin. Welcome to it.

Whoa on Yurachek!

Wait a moment.  I am not giving him a pass.  HOWEVER:  The decisions were made by the "committee".  Yurachek is just the voice.

Let's face it.  If Texas played everyone in the playoffs, they would be favored against all but 3 teams.....the top 3.   ND would be favored only vs. the current bottom 2-3 teams.  Miami is probably a split right down the middle.

Frankly, allowing teams from non-power-four conferences in the tournament, is what screwed the thing up.  Now that ND has been "offended" maybe there will be enough outcry to have a playoff with the 12 best teams  (16 team with no byes like the other levels is a better format).

The way to have responded and carried yourself on this thread is unfortunate. whether you realize it or not your attitude does more to potentially undermine your own stated goal of maintaining a community around Texas football than someone making a harmless joke. Nevertheless, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt because oftentimes we can misunderstand each other when communicating electronically instead of in person.

There's actually another person on the committee that was a former Arkansas AD, Chris Long. So at least 1/6 of the voices on the committee are from Arky. I think 2 people on a committee could be pretty persuasive. But Arkansas is just one of the chiefs of Texas hate.

And Yurachek is the chair. The chair does take responsibility for the actions and decisions of the committee. That always comes with the territory of being a/the leader.
