If you could wave a magic wand and Texas get ONE specific player that’s in the portal… who would it be?

Only one.

They have to be in the portal/have announced their intentions to enter the portal

Who yall taking? Who helps Texas the most?

I might be in the minority here, but I’m going with the Arkansas DT. There just aren’t that many massive, space-eating DTs that can move well walking the face of the earth. I have no doubt that we will find really really good players at IOL, WR, RB, LB, and secondary. But there aren’t too many guys like him who can add exactly what Texas needs at a critical position of need.

Scudero.  I don't like most of the linemen in the portal right now.  i feel like he provides a different skillset than what we have and we know he can play because he did fine against us.

Za’Lance Heard. Too expensive for the value he provides our team though.

The linebacker from Auburn. Position is super light on numbers. And unless Ty Smith puts on some good weight, we need another thumper with experience to play the run the entire season.

I second Scudero! I think he will be really good for someone next year!

Well since the portal entrants overall are mediocre at best, the simple answer is going with a guy who doesn’t need a year to learn the offense.

Parker Livingstone.

Cam Coleman is just a much better player than him. It's not really close either.

We’ve had GREAT receivers come in and take more than half the season to truly learn the offense and then get rolling. Cam Coleman would be no different. The 2026 schedule is not one to use as a “learning,” year.

I'll go with Baugh or someone as close to him as we can get.  After watching Indiana yesterday and Georgia all year, I'm convinced that a power running game will get us to another level.

Who exactly are you referring to?

What are you talking about? AD Mitchell and Matthew Golden were KEY players to Texas making playoff runs. You can make the argument Coleman may be better than both.

Matthew Golden and AD Mitchell.

Mitchell took all season to learn to block on the perimeter (which let’s be honest, he never really did well by the end of the year)

as for golden, he really didn’t become the go to guy until midway through the year.

Both had success here don’t get me wrong and obviously were drafted high, but both also had the benefit of playing in either completely different conference or had a much easer SEC schedule than what 2026 will look like.

How many times does the OTF crew bring up the importance of learning this scheme as a WR and learning to BLOCK on the perimeter?

Can he block?

Heard, OL from Tennessee

Sneaky good answer. Would be huge if Goosby leaves, but even if not Baker could kick in to guard and probably be better than most portal options there.

Dan Neil, Casey Studdard, and Jake Majors lol. Seriously though OL OL OL OL. I want to see us win the LOS on both sides of the ball next season and impose our will on people. I do like the DT 0 tech out of Arkansas and would love to have Baugh but it’s all moot if we can’t protect Arch and establish a physical run game.

This is something Sark needs to change. It shouldn’t take long for receivers to pick up an offense as it’s one of the easiest offensive positions to transition. He needs to simplify the offense in terms of learning curve. Well also in terms of scheme as well but that is a conversation for another thread.
