Maybe Flood isn’t the fit at OL coach for today’s college football, back to back years of portal negligence 😂 the sycamores! 1 1 Quote

Lavalulu Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I had to look up Bobby’s reference to Texas as a “Stalking Horse”. very Appropriate. i’d like to make a small correction to the term: Texas is a “Stalking Longhorn” Quote

pinkman_90 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago The thing about the OL is you don’t need studs. Sure that would be nice but you can win a championship with just solid players who work well as a group. Can we get some solid players in here? Or are we going to wait for the ole miss to enter and then re-up with ole miss or join Lane. Quote
TimLamaster Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Ban all Big 10 lineman they don't want to come down here too afraid to the Sec apparently. Quote

Im wishful thinking more negative happens tomorrow ((maybe, a reverse jinx) but s/o to the OTF staff and fellow fans for riding with this boat together, lol. On the bright side of things… at least I don’t have to stress about my Dallas Cowboys choking this Wild Card weekend…. 1 2 Quote

That is only one data point. Strong was still a terrible head coach. I have rewatched every game this season. The OL Flood put on the field for most of the season is inexcusable. I've been a big Sark fan after being very skeptical when he was hired. I'm afraid the loyalty to Flood may end it for him here eventually. I just want to win. Oline discussion always is interesting for several reasons. For one, run and pass blocking generally ignore the impact of the non-Olinemen. Most people don’t have a clue about individual responsibilities on a given play. And unless you run it in slow motion and rewind every play multiple times, a person cannot see it all. So when you say inexcusable, how often over the years have you rewatched games? And over that time, was it just the Horns? Quote
sbk Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Hope it’s ok to share something personal/non-football related here. Been dealing with some financial difficulties recently that have been tough. Have tried to get a raise at work for months to no avail. Lots of stress, especially with the holidays and all the expenses that go along with them. Anyway, I called Brandon Harris and said I wanted to transfer to Texas and now my boss doubled my pay overnight. Thanks Brandon! 1 3 Quote

Here for the Wins Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago 4 hours ago, General Grant said: Trotting out Stroh was an egregious error for half a season. Making the change last second preseason was to say the least odd. The inability to run the ball against good teams exclusive of ou has been egregious for years. Sark makes the decisions. I believe this is a large error. Time will tell. Keeping him has changed my long term outlook on Sark. I desperately want to be wrong. From what I gather, you seem a loyal and rather amicable fan. I commend you for that. This week I’ve watched half this seasons games. Particularly the offense. With attention to the blocking aspect. Here’s what I’m confident in saying. Singling out Stroh beyond the oddity of season long coaching decisions is wrong. A few observations about the guys upfront. The two biggest hits to Arch during my half season review were at the hands of Goosby versus UTEP and likely Brooks versus Kentucky. Hits that easily could result in injury. Believe in the first 5 games, Campbell and Baker accumulated 12 penalties combined. At least two of Arch’s picks versus Ohio State and UF but thinking all 3 were after penalties put us behind the chains with resulted in impatient play calls and impatient QB decisions. Hutson/Robertson were never clean themselves. And oddly enough, Stroh didn’t play versus Kentucky. I’m sure our worst offensive performance was because of him though. The final offensive play of the OSU game sure as hell wasn’t off his side. Now, Campbell and Baker got tagged with 9 penalties the remainder of the season. Stroh had none incidentally. But there’s evidence that Baker improved over the last half of the season. We want to attribute the improvement to the Robertson/Hutson combo. Because that means Stroh was the problem. You might also think to which game, which seem to turn the offensive tide. 4th quarter MSU, right? You might watch that quarter and see how that combo worked together. And note who it was. Now, I’m not speaking to Strohs ability, but I’m pointing out some of the things that occurred rather than making him the scapegoat, which has been done repeatedly. He certainly loses his feet too much. He does make an effort to initiate contact. He’ll gladly start on a double in pass pro then peel and help elsewhere. I saw multiple instances that he was clearly using his head to get things done. And I sure as hell saw another player who had more plays in which that player never engaged a defender. That wasn’t Stroh’s approach. Stroh probably had fewer negative plays than a few others for that matter. I am damn curious about decisions surrounding the choices regarding the offensive line. We will never know, and it sure doesn’t make sense. But the story that is told and the finger pointing is misguided and inaccurate regarding how things went down on the field. Unfortunately all the parts contributed to falling short. Quote
Frank Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago With Everyone knowing offensive line was our biggest need How in the world do you only have 3 o linemen visits completed a week into the portal? One of which wasn’t even offer worthy? Is Flood even trying at this point? 1 Quote
