Are we witnessing the best coaching job in their first 2 years at a school of all time? Especially a school that isn’t known for football…like, at all.

I know some people want to say it’s the assistants, but guess what, The Cig hired those guys. He had the wherewithal to know who he needed for the X’s and O’s departments as well as the scouting departments. This dude is a LEGEND!!

Side note: With Coogan playing in the last 2 national championships with different teams, does that mean the Center is the actual X-factor that everyone overlooks? No wonder we haven’t won it since 2005!! We haven’t had an ELITE center!! 😂😂😂

I’ve been asking for more dudes like Sendlein & Casey Studdard since 2005. Mailman didn’t deliver it to Mack, email to Charlie Strong must’ve went to spam, Herman gave me the double birds... Sark was on the right track with Banks, Campbell etc but man that changed fast. I don’t care about stars, give me 5-8 guys that really enjoy fighting and are mean as hell!!! 🤘🤘🤘

He was smart enough to cancel all non conference games against P4 opponents and play only cupcakes against non P4 teams. He gets easy wins, doesn’t get his team beat up physically and allows backups to get game reps.

Meanwhile we are playing an SEC schedule and choose to take on Ohio State in addition. The playoff committee only looks at wins and losses.

If we are dumb enough to continue to put ourselves at a disadvantage schedule wise….then we deserve what we get.

Cignetti realized quickly that you don’t make it any harder on yourself than necessary when it comes to scheduling.

I bet we get away from it too. The AD also plays into this discussion. As much as the non-con argument matters, we were a Florida loss away from being in the playoffs again. Can't lose to teams you are supposed to beat.

We can’t control our conference schedule. We do control our non conference schedule.

Your schedule can make it more difficult for your team (and leave no margin for error) or easier for your team. Only a fool would make it more difficult on themselves and Cignetti is no fool.

You don’t get a trophy for playing the toughest schedule.

Read my first sentence...

Also, don't lose to teams you are supposed to beat.

One season with 32 yr seniors and he’s the greatest…

27-2 in two seasons with a natty, heisman and back to back CFP appearances.

Guess you forgot last season was his first and they made playoffs losing 1 regular season game before losing in the playoffs. Find me another coach that has done anything comparable in their first 2 years at a new school, especially one that is historically terrible at football.

I won’t hold my breath waiting…

You can’t take away a thing he’s done, and he truly worked miracles. I said on another thread this looks a lot like what DeBoer did at UW during his two years there on steroids. Kept a ton of 5th and 6th year guys together with some great portal adds. Time will tell if he’s created the next monster or if it was a miracle like FSU had going a couple of years ago until their QB got hurt. Most likely something in between.

Some coaches are ahead of the curve. Despite all that is happening in college sports with NIL, Portal, strength of schedule, buying teams, stacking talent, this guy figured it out. This is why I don’t like “ well in this sport it takes three years of four years”. This guy did it in two years! Stop telling us it takes more time. And it’s not like they had a horrible season last year. This is no fluke. They were good last year. Please stop with the it takes time to build, well this is a different school…hear way too much of that in football and basketball.

lol. You really think you’re on to something. Nothing’s comparable because nothing’s the same. NIL distorted everything starting last year and has gone up exponentially. This was also a really down year in football quality but do you and continue to hang on those Illinuts. He might be the next Saban but it’s too soon for anyone to know. Had a good season but he a lot had to go right. OSU(by their standard, hell we almost beat them with 4 linemen and arch wackamoling throws), Mi, PSU in down years, terrible playoff teams, etc…

Done with this 🤘🏽

You must have a tough life without joy man. Everything you post is negative. Can’t even give people props that deserve it and instead cut down the people that show respect. Life is infinitely better without the negativity, trust me. I used to be as miserable as you seem to be and life is so much better when you don’t live in a sea of darkness. You can respect what others accomplish without “hanging on their nuts…”

lol. You’re terrible at this. It’s a just a chat on football. Has zero to do with my personal happiness. Too funny.

Apparently you’ve look at my prior posts to form a false narrative but I’m the miserable one.

It’s beyond respect imo. I acknowledge he had a good season. Stats, 2 years of data to support your view of him but I guess that’s just respect.

off to ignore.

I don’t have to look back. Your posts are memorable for how miserable they are.

He's a good coach and came from a good stable.  The stars aligned for him (and Indiana) with the squad he put together, which led to a natty.

I think he might be scary as a coach for a school with deep pockets.

Coaching is only a piece of the puzzle, albeit an extremely important one.  Having a disciplined squad is the real key, IMHO.  Texas adding Coach Muschamp should help us in that area, at least on defense.  Arch showed some fire to his team mates in the Michigan game, so let's hope he helps on the offensive side as well.
