I agree. Makes me wonder where the money is going. It's definitely not towards winning lol. Quote

maje12 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I would bet the majority of athletic programs are not actually profitable. Once it becomes widely known, it is going to be very hard to justify keeping expensive sports at most colleges. I think most go back to just Olympic sports and a scholarship and a small stipend will be paid to those players. The "big three" (basketball, football, and baseball) will need to get spun into their own league where they will find out that there is no market or interest when the affiliation with the colleges goes away. Who is going to watch the Austin Roughriders play the College Station Raging Farmers? Quote

They actually signed two of the top 3 basketball recruits (per 247) in the 2024 class, Dylan Harper who was selected # 2 overall in the 2025 draft by the Spurs and Ace Bailey who was selected # 5 by the Jazz. I'm sure those two didn't come cheap. What did Rutgers BB get from those two? 15-17 overall record, 8-12 in conference. 2 1 Quote

What is the fascination with super conferences? An expanded playoff with two super conferences is just more nfl’ing of the college game. The nfl sucks while college is totally awesome so these aren’t good developments. Quote
