Brunson is my favorite PG right now and he’s absolutely not pass first.  But he knows when to take over vs when to defer.  When to push vs. pull back.  

There may be some confusion about point guard in general. Combo guards are actually able to get into the paint, make the defense collapse and kick it out for an assist. They can even throw lobs for dunks. I watched the interview. You can win with one or win without one. If the top player in the country wanted to come to Texas and was an old school point guard, I am quite sure Coach Miller would gladly take him.

This visitor is currently in the class of 2027. Feel like Texas is hoping he remains in 2027. 

Nebraska would take him whether he's 2027 or ends up in 2026.

My point is that Miller told Gerry you can win with a "combo" point guard. You can't unless you have the best frontcourt. Even that won't matter if the other team has great backcourt players. My example is the mid 80s Celtics had the best frontcourt ever, but they couldn't beat the best point guard ever in Magic. Not to mention that Kobe as a shooting guard was more important than the most athletically gifted player ever as Shaq.  Jerry West told Shaq that Kobe was already better than him when Kobe was 17 in July 1996.
