The University of Texas System Board of Regents is set to approve a three-year, multi-million contract for Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp at next Thursday’s regents meeting.

The regents are also set to approve contract extensions for offensive line coach Kyle Flood and linebackers coach Johnny Nansen.

According to the agenda book for the regularly scheduled meeting, Muschamp’s contract with the Longhorns will run through the 2028 season, if approved by the regents. Muschamp’s guaranteed salary is split between his annual salary for three years ($1.08 million for the first year) and three professional services payments ($1.62 million in the first year).

All told, Muschamp is due to make $2.7 million in the first year of his deal, $2.8 million in the second year and $2.9 million in the third year.

Annual Salary

Dec. 19, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2026: $1.08 million

Jan. 1, 2027 through Dec. 31, 2027: $1.12 million

Jan. 1, 2028 through Feb. 28, 2029: $1.16 million

Professional Services Payments

Dec. 19, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2026: $1.62 million

Jan. 1, 2027 through Dec. 31, 2027: $1.68 million

Jan. 1, 2028 through Feb. 28, 2029: $1.74 million

Muschamp’s contract also includes an automobile, a club membership and tickets to Texas sporting events, all of which are ā€œpursuant to Athletics Department’s policies and procedures,ā€ according to the pending employee agreement.

Flood, whose current contract was set to expire after the 2026 season, will remain on the Forty Acres through the 2027 season. Flood’s annual salary will be $1.525 million, with his new deal set to expire on Feb. 29, 2028.

Nansen’s new deal will also run through the 2027 season, with a raise to $1.2 million annually.

Flood definitely mismanaged the interior by NOT going to the portal for the best available, But he’s seemed to have changed that philosophy this offseason and he’s for sure earned some grace here. NO first round picks from the offensive line for over twenty years before flood got here.Ā

Professional services payment? Does this mean he’s a hooker?Ā

It’s ā€œGigoloā€ and he offers a critical service for UT athletics staff members who need intensity release. Ā

Flood and Nansen still here is amazing.Ā  My expectations are definitely lowered now. Sark has real blindspots with those two.Ā  Oh well if it doesn't work Sark will be gone for this mistake.Ā

These salaries are of enhanced value compared with most competitors because Texas has no state income tax.

Explain Professional Services Payments, please.

Aside from his job description, what services are to be rendered?Ā  If this is simply additional salary for the same job description why is it separately denominated?Ā  Is it contingent upon some additional service being rendered?

Is the source of the funding other than the Athletic Department?Ā Ā

Yes, what is that? Also, how do I get that in my work contract? Maybe for appearances at alumni, coaches meeting, clinics, camps etc?Ā
