I can confirm the report (via D1Softball) that Texas associate head coach Ehren Earleywine is no longer with the program. He accepted an assistant coach position at Tennessee. 

Earleywine was originally hired by Mike White in August of 2025.

I did see the Justin McLeod post earlier.....Wowzers, both assistants gone. You know Earleywine is getting a good raise going there.

we just got rid of $352,000 assistant staff money...Now we can give Partty Ruth Taylor a raise...she was making crap.

Here you go. Some random minor league hitting coaches with some connection to Texas (not UT):

  • Alonzo Powell (Salt Lake Bees AAA, Angels) → Coached for the Houston Astros (MLB, 2016–2017). 
  • Brian McArn (Las Vegas Aviators AAA, Athletics) → Served as hitting coach for Double-A Midland (Texas League) for four seasons (2004, 2013, 2016–17). 
  • Kevin Kouzmanoff (assistant hitting coach, Las Vegas Aviators AAA, Athletics) → Played MLB for the Texas Rangers (2014 season).
  • Orlando Merced (Worcester Red Sox AAA) → Played MLB for the Houston Astros.
  • Luis Baez (Lansing Lugnuts A, Athletics) → Signed and developed in the Houston Astros organization; played for their Double-A affiliate, the Corpus Christi Hooks (Corpus Christi, Texas).

If I'm a AA or A hitting coach in Midland or Lansing and Mike White calls...

Hitting a baseball and a fast pitch softball are completely different.

Hitting a baseball and hitting elite D1 fastpitch are about as related as driving a Prius and flying an F‑16.

I'm sure you're right. Just like hitting a golf ball from the back tees and the women's tees is completely different.

What a clueless response.  How fast is the golf ball moving when they start their swing and from what trajectory is the ball coming when they hit it?

one thing for sure, Texas isn’t hiring the AAA hitting coach from Salt Lake because he once coached in Houston. Or the guy from Midland because “Texas League.” Or Kouzmanoff because he played for the Rangers. Cool resumes, wrong sport.

Earlywine’s out, so let’s stop pretending this offense fixes itself. Texas needs a real hitting architect again - not another placeholder.

This isn’t complicated. If Texas is serious about fixing/improving  the offensive identity of this program, then stop duct‑taping the problem and bring back Connie Clark.

Clark is literally sitting right there - proven, respected, elite at developing hitters, and understands Texas better than anyone. If you want the offense fixed, if you want hitters who don’t look lost in big moments, if you want a real identity again?

Bring back Connie Clark. Stop overthinking it.

This. I can easily coach a boy on hitting a baseball and be able to get real technical with it. 

I would be absolutely lost at coaching a girl in hitting a softball.

Sure, I could do mechanics, getting a pretty swing, etc.... but softball is completely different and that coaching would only go so far.
